Diablo 4 1.4.0 Patch Notes: Everything We Know So Far

Brace yourselves, Sanctuary! Blizzard Entertainment is preparing to shake the foundations of Diablo 4 with a massive update.

Patch 1.4.0 will overhaul core systems, resolve some long-standing problems, and deliver exciting brand-new content to keep gamers interested.

Itemization Rework

diablo 4 Salvage Rare Items for Veiled Crystals

The largest upgrade with Patch 1.4.0 is the itemization update. Players have complained about the current loot system – items drop with random stats and player interaction with gear is minimal.

The coming patch will fix those problems by including new crafting mechanics which will allow players to create unique and powerful items based on playstyle.

Moreover, the number of affixes (special properties) on Legendary and Rare items will be reduced, but the remaining affixes will pack a more substantial punch, making each drop more impactful and valuable.

Class Adjustments

In addition to the itemization overhaul, Patch 1.4.0 will bring substantial changes to class balance and design. One of the primary goals is to make flat-damage Legendary items more viable by scaling their damage with players’ weapon damage.

This change should breathe new life into builds that previously struggled to remain competitive in the endgame. Furthermore, the developers are opening up class designs to promote greater build diversity.

If you’ve ever dreamed of creating a viable Dust Devil’s build for your Barbarian but found it challenging, the upcoming changes could make such builds not only possible but also powerful.

New Content

Patch 1.4.0 will also introduce exciting new content to keep players engaged. The Helltide event is receiving a complete revamp, bringing the depths of Hell to the surface of Sanctuary.

As players battle through Helltides, they will generate Helltide Threat, leading to increasingly dangerous ambushes and culminating in a powerful Hellborne spawn at maximum Threat.

The Pit of Artificers

Another thrilling addition is The Pit of Artificers, a network of dungeons rumored to contain strange ores perfect for crafting exceptional armor using secret Horadric techniques.

By completing a specific quest, players will gain access to The Pit, a timed challenge where they must slay enough monsters before a portal appears, leading to a boss arena. Defeating the boss will grant Masterworking materials, allowing players to unlock higher tiers of The Pit.

Boss Ladder Updates

The Boss Ladder will also receive updates, with the introduction of the Echo of Andariel joining the fray. Summoning Tormented Echoes of ladder bosses will require Stygian Stones, obtainable from The Pit, and these powerful foes will drop level 925 items.

Public Test Realm

To test these massive changes, Blizzard will launch a brand-new Public Test Realm (PTR) on April 2nd. Players can instantly boost their characters to level 100 and receive various resources to experience the new content firsthand. Additionally, Legendary drop rates will be doubled on the PTR, allowing for extensive testing and feedback.

Feedback Matters

Player feedback on the PTR will play a crucial role in shaping the final version of Patch 1.4.0. Blizzard encourages players to provide their input through the in-game feedback tool or the Diablo IV PTR forums, ensuring that the update meets the community’s expectations and desires.

Season 4 Awaits

While the changes introduced in Patch 1.4.0 are subject to adjustments based on player feedback, one thing is certain: this update will lay the foundation for Diablo 4’s highly anticipated Season 4

With the itemization rework, class changes, and new content, players can expect a fresh and exciting experience when the update goes live, breathing new life into the world of Sanctuary.
