GUIDE | How to jumpthrow in CS2

With the CS2 update last August 31, where Valve gave access to the limited test of the game to thousands of players, many are adapting to the new mechanics, the new graphics, and, above all, the new sounds. However, some have wondered how to jumpthrow in CS2, as let’s remember that this mechanic is fundamental when throwing grenades.

While it is true that the game is already available to many people in its beta version, the official game is not yet among us; Valve has not yet fulfilled its promise that it will be released in summer 2023. However, with the new wave of beta accesses to the game, it seems Valve is covering its back a bit.

It’s not all roses regarding CS2 in its beta phase, as some players have complained about slow character movement. However, the most common complaint from casual and professional players is that CS2 seems to lack the key combinations that help players execute a given action.

One of these actions is the jumpthrow, which seems non-essential to Valve, but there is no doubt that players want it in the game. In addition, there is also the fact that there is still no way to change the side of the weapon for the left, something that is expected to be corrected for the official release of the game.

Jumpthrow – What is it?

Even though CS:GO commands don’t seem to work in CS2 perfectly, the community has discovered the commands to jumpthrow in the new game.

The jumpthrow is the mechanic in which players jump and drop a grenade simultaneously, allowing them to have the exact precision in the throw so the grenade would fall where it should. As we know, in CS:GO, players can use certain commands to assign a key to a jumpthrow mechanic. However, in CS2, this was not possible until now, when a community member figured out how to do it.

To jumpthrow in CS2, we must use the commands shared by Twitter user AMZ and place them in the Developer Console.

As AMZ mentions in his post, players should copy and paste the following command in their console:

  • alias “+boing” “+jump”;
  • alias “+ding” “-attack; -attack2”.
  • alias “+dong” “-jump”; alias “+ding” “-attack; -attack2”; alias “+dong” “-jump
  • bind “key” “+boing; +ding; +dong”

Remember to replace “key” with the key you want to jumpthrow. Also, remember to keep the quotation marks in all the commands except for “key” because here you don’t need the quotation marks.

Now, if you do not know which key to select, we will give you an example:

bind v “+boing; +ding; +dong”

However, you must keep in mind that, being the limited test of the game, everything is not yet to create a custom config. As a result, you must enter this command every time you start the game to jumpthrow.

Have your say!
