Spain has always been a hotbed of talent in esports, especially in the League of Legends (LoL) scene.

The country has produced some of the most iconic players in the history of the game, who have left indelible marks not only in the local Spanish leagues (LVP) but also in the more prestigious LCS (League of Legends Championship Series in NA) and LEC (League of Legends European Championship in EMA).

In this three-part series, let’s look at some Spanish legends who have graced the international scene.

Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez

First on the list is Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez. xPeke is one of the founding fathers of the European LoL scene. Known for his incredible backdoor plays, xPeke’s legacy goes beyond his playstyle. He is also the founder of Origen, a team that has enjoyed much success in the LEC. As a result, his influence on and off the Summoner’s Rift has made him one of the most respected figures in LoL history.

Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez

Next is Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez Santiago, another Spanish player who contributed significantly to the LoL scene. Ocelote’s career as a professional player was marked by his time as a mid-laner for SK Gaming, where he led the team to several LCS finals. However, like xPeke, Ocelote moved into a leadership role after his retirement and founded the successful esports organization G2 Esports.

Jorge “Werlyb” Casanovas

Jorge “Werlyb” Casanovas’ name may not be as globally recognized as the first two, but his impact on the Spanish LoL scene is undeniable. Werlyb was the first Spanish player to win the EU LCS (now LEC) with Fnatic in 2015. His aggressive play style and unique champion pool made him a standout player in the league.

Jesus “Morden” Pascual

Jesus “Morden” Pascual is another Spanish player who has made his mark in the LCS. A former jungler for Giants Gaming, Morden was known for his aggressive play style and ability to control the game’s pace. His performances in the LCS helped put Spanish LoL on the map.

Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez

Finally, Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez. Mithy is considered one of the best LCS Supports in history. His strategic mind and exceptional shooting skills earned him multiple titles with teams such as Origen and G2 Esports.

These players have represented Spain on the international LoL scene and played a pivotal role in shaping the game’s landscape.
