Spotify has begun testing translations of podcasts with AI-generated voices designed to mimic the voices of the creators. The translations are available in German, Spanish and French, among other languages.
The test is with English-language podcasts, Spotify reports. Users can hear the translations in a collection of them. To do so, the audio company is working with OpenAI, whose technology Spotify uses to generate voices.
The idea is to make podcasts available to more people in their own language, without losing the specific elements of the podcast host’s voice. For now, it involves a limited number of podcast hosts and episodes.
