Popular Twitch Streamer Asmongold Facing Backlash For “Hot Take”

AI has made tremendous strides in the past couple of years. Before, the thought of AI being able to generate actual pictures and producing music has been something that people often joke about as they never think that it would happen at all. In fact, AI’s biggest achievement back then was able to make coherent sentences when asked about something.

But now, in the year 2024, AI has done some… questionable things since then. Not all of them bad, but AI has also been used for malicious use, like putting the face of a popular Twitch streamer like Pokimane on the body of a pornstar in a porno without the consent of the person. Or maybe even generating photos like Taylor Swift being manhandled in an American football game, completely naked.

AI is also used to help generate some really fun content, though, like Plankton singing heavy metal songs about taking over Bikini Bottom or creating fun monster designs for Palworld (allegedly). Which is where the problem comes in.

Palworld is accused of using AI to generate the designs of the Pals of the game, and that the AI is also creating designs that are close to what actual Pokémon’s look like. This is where Twitch streamer Asmongold comes in with a “hot take” that caused him to get backlash from a community of artists.

In the clip taken from his stream, Asmongold stated that “artists opinions don’t matter”, which is what really caused the backlash to come from. While some may agree, many have obviously disagreed with Asmongold’s statement, there are some that has come to his defense.

Twitter user RegiRobShot states that Asmongold saying “artist opinions don’t matter” was meant to be in a business sense, as Asmongold is also a businessman with his Starforge Systems company that sells pre-built gaming PC’s. He then further agrees that “The average consumer will not care about artists views on a game they enjoy”.

Others, mostly from the official Asmongold subreddit, have come to his defense and agreed with his statements, stating that the only thing that went wrong with his initial statement was the way he delivered it made it seem like he did not care about the artists themselves.

Asmongold’s Response to the Backlash

Not even a day after Asmongold’s statement, he comes out and tweets out a response to the backlash he is facing. He does not double down on his stance, but instead further explains what he is talking about to help further explain his reasoning on his stance.

“Am I wrong about this?” he starts, “Looking at so many people angry with what I said is kind of shocking to me. When you go to market with a product, the only thing that matters is the consumers perception of that products value. When did this become wrong?”

But that’s not where it ends. Asmongold also goes live in twitch to further explain his reasoning to his audience and to those that have come to see his response.
