PlayStation State of Play Brings In the Heat

The PlayStation State of Play is the go to source for when you want to know everything new that’s coming out for PlayStation. PlayStation hosts these events to keep players up to date and announce some new things that are now currently in the work or close to release, and boy are there a lot of announcements on this stream.

One thing to take note of is that the State of Play can always be a hit or miss depending t some people, with people only focusing on a couple of games they want to know more of. The last big game that people were looking forward to play on the PlayStation 5 is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and while that game didn’t win any awards, it was still a great time.

Games Shown in PlayStation State of Play

If there’s one thing a lot of people are annoyed about game announcements is that some games are announced years in advance to generate hype. Many games have done this before, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Tekken 8, Final Fantasy XV (which was originally titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII), and Duke Nukem: Forever.

Some games live up to the hype, others just fail miserably. However, we’re not talking about if these games are going to be good enough when they come out. We’re talking about if they will be released this year. Thankfully, a lot of games that were shown in the State of Play all had 2024 release dates. Here are those games:

  • Stellar Blade – April 26, 2024
  • Sonic x Shadow Generations – Autumn 2024
  • Dave the Diver – April 2024
  • V Rising – 2024
  • Silent Hill: The Short Message – Out now
  • Metro Awakening (VR game) – 2024
  • Legendary Tales (VR game) – February 8, 2024
  • Until Dawn Remaster – 2024

While it’s great that we have games with confirmed 2024 release dates, we also have games that were announced to be coming to PlayStation 5, but with no official release date. Again, pretty normal in the gaming industry nowadays, but it still sucks that we possibly might have to wait for years before these games come out.

Here are those games that are coming in the future for the PlayStation 5:

  • Zenless Zone Zero
  • Judas
  • New Hideo Kojima action espionage game

The big highlight of the show, of course, was Hideo Kojima himself announcing that he is creating a new action espionage IP with Sony. This is big news for Metal Gear fans, as Hideo Kojima is one of the pioneers of the stealth genre for video game thanks to the creation of the original Metal Gear. So with that said, it looks like Konami is going to have a Metal Gear competitor with the creator of Metal Gear.

Aside from that, PlayStation has announced at the end of the State of Play that there will be… another State of Play. This one, however, includes Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which will be releasing at the end of February, which is really close now. So if you want to learn more about the sequel to the Final Fantasy VII Remake, then you better be there.
