Is The Last of Us Part 2 PS5 Remastered Good? | GAME REVIEW

User Rating: 7

The Last of Us Part 2 was a legendary sequel to a game that was already considered a masterpiece. The gameplay, physics, graphics, and storyline were all top-notch so it was quite a surprise when they launched a remastered version. Well, this version of the Last of Us 2 was actually tailor-made to run on the new PS5 but one question still remains. Is The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Worth It?

Was the Original Last of Us 2 Good?

Before we talk about the remastered version, we first have to take a look if the original game was any good. Although it is widely regarded as a very good game, it did have its fair share of comments. One of which was the unexpected change of focus in narrative when it came to the game’s cast. Without spoiling anything, let’s just say there was one event that completely altered the story of the entire series and it received mixed reactions from fans.

Aside from that, the rest of the game was amazing. The overall gameplay was a blast and the way they added a more realistic feel to the mechanics. This gave birth to players having to adapt to different game styles. Of course, players could always go chagrin in with guns slinging, but the game rewards stealth and a calculative approach.

With regards to the graphics, you could truly call it an “evolution” from the Last of Us Part 1. The game also introduced enhanced physics such as character movement, environment interaction, and so much more.

What Does the Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Version Offer?

Now that we know that the initial version was surely living up to its reputation, you might want to know what the remastered version has to offer. Well, there are actually several remastered releases for both the recent Playstation platforms. The PS4 version looked great but is the PS5 version worth it? Well, one of the advantages you get when buying the PS5 version is that you can play in fidelity mode. This means that you can play in native 4k and the game looks even better than it did before.

However, this $70 purchase features some more changes and additions other than the visual overhaul. This includes the No Return Mode where you’ll have encounters with enemies in run throughs. You have a character selection system and can test out different types of battles. These encounters include “Hunted” where you try to survive endless waves of enemies and “Assault” where each wave that arrives gets a bump in difficulty. The No Return mode also includes boss battles and the encounters are randomized so it doesn’t feel repetitive.

There are also an additional three levels that were never released into the original The Last of Us Part 2. This also includes some commentary from the game designers both in the lost levels and in the main story.

Summary
Based on everything we have said so far, the Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is good, especially if you’re a die hard fan. However, if you’re just starting to play the game and don’t know if you like it or not, then you should stick to the original game. This remastered mainly caters to players that have the PS5 and have finished the game but want more. Still, if you want a more immersive experience and at the same time have the platform to play this remastered version on, I could easily say the Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is worth it.
