Is Viper the Most Toxic Character as per Valorant’s lore?

Valorant now has 24 agents, and not many are aware of the backstory running behind it. The game is played in an alpha and omega multiverse featuring agents from both sides. While the overall lore can be studied through lore expert websites, today we take a look at the American scientist “Viper” and a few intriguing details about this so-called “Toxic” queen.

Omen became Omen because of Viper?

As per Omen’s lore, he was an assassin and a part of the Hourglass Company. Viper, at the same time, worked for the Kingdom Corporation. Both these organisations were working on a new source of energy called “Radiante”. While Viper got her hands on some radianite, Omen was sent by the Hourglass Company to assassinate Viper. A fight breaks loose within Viper’s laboratory, and Omen got stuck inside a machine filled with experimental radianite, and things took a turn from there. Viper forced him to stay inside the machine, and thus the ghostly Omen was born. Omen loses all of his memory, and as acts pass, he slowly begins to recollect who he is.

Viper might have been going out with Omen in the past.

Though Viper and Omen got into a fight, voice lines within the game suggest they have a history amongst themselves. The line “Joh- I mean, Omen. Keep yourself together, you’re still needed.” suggests that Viper knew Omen’s real name. Also, Viper says this to Omen as well: “One more time, Omen.” laughs “How many times have you heard that now?”. As obvious as it sounds, it seems like Viper and Omen were in an intimate relationship before all hell broke loose in Valorant.

In a recent cinematic, Viper and Omen’s lore has gotten more intense. It seems like Omen’s slowly beginning to realise who he is. In the latest Valorant animation episode titled “The Reckoning,” the video ends with Omen recollecting bits and pieces of who he is and deciding to have a talk with Viper personally. If you haven’t seen it, make sure to give it a watch. As a hardcore Valorant fan, the ending of that video gave me chills.

Project Lucia is another intriguing project Viper is involved in.

As per the lore, Lucia is none other than Reyna’s sister in Valorant. In an unfortunate series of events, Lucia gets hurt in a war and is almost going to die. Reyna decides to take her to Viper to help Lucia regain her health. Viper, who was leading the Kingdom Corporation along with Brimstone, decides to leave the leadership roles. Instead, she focuses on bringing Lucia back to life. While all of this looks simple and straightforward, Viper asks Reyna to keep feeding her with the souls of other victims to keep Lucia alive. Fearing the death of her sister, Reyna abides by this request and keeps providing Viper with the souls she collects from her battles.

While it is clear that Viper is trying to help Lucia, it also seems that Viper is taking advantage of this opportunity to keep Reyna under her control. Reyna, being one of the most powerful agents, now works for Viper, and for her sister, Reyna would be willing to do it all. For an American chemist, Viper does seem to have a lot on her hands. But the real question is, how far do her toxins go? With so many agents involved in Viper’s lore, is she the one running the whole show? We’ll have to wait and watch for more Valorant animations to get to the truth of this.
