GungHo Online Entertainment America has brought a dash of nostalgia to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the launch of the GRANDIA HD Collection. This release revitalizes two beloved JRPG classics, GRANDIA and GRANDIA II, making them accessible to everyone. Players can download the collection digitally for $39.99 or pre-order physical editions until April 14, 2024, through Limited Run Games for $54.99.
The GRANDIA HD Collection offers a polished experience for modern consoles, including updated visuals, improved UI, and widescreen support. It also provides multiple language options and maintains the choice of either English or Japanese audio, preserving the original experience for anyone revisiting these games out of nostalgia or discovering them for the first time.
The GRANDIA HD Collection brings these two games to modern consoles:
- GRANDIA follows a young boy named Justin who dreams of becoming a great adventurer and uncovers a grand secret within the ancient Dom Ruins. Justin meets other adventurers who join him throughout his journey, and together they discover what lies beyond the End of the World.
- GRANDIA II occurs eons after the battle of Good & Evil between the gods Granas and Valmar. The young mercenary Ryudo is tasked with protecting the acolyte Elena, a job that turns into a journey to protect the world from never-ending darkness.
Fans of the series will be happy to know that the core gameplay elements that made the originals so popular remain intact. Expect the real-time turn-based combat, magical battles, and an engaging skill point system for developing powerful attacks. All of this is wrapped in a vibrant world waiting to be explored and set to an iconic score by composer Noriyuki Iwadare.
The GRANDIA HD Collection is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and is also compatible with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X. This HD set has previously been released on the Nintendo Switch and Steam (as GRANDIA HD Remaster).
