Larian Studios released its fifth major patch for the rpg Baldur’s Gate III on Thursday. Among other things, this patch adds a new section at the end of the game. It also adds a new difficulty level and a Custom mode.
The added epilogue takes place six months after the end of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian reported in its patch 5 post. Players previously complained about the game’s abrupt ending and lack of a look back with the characters. Larian says it hopes the epilogue offers players “well-deserved closure.
Two new modes have also been added: Honour and Custom. The Honour mode includes the highest level of difficulty. Battles are more difficult and loading previously saved moments in the game, or save scumming, is also less easy. For example, if the player is not satisfied with the outcome of a skill check, it is not possible to change it by reloading a previous save. In Custom Mode, players can customize certain gameplay elements, including how strong characters are and the aggression of enemies.
Baldur’s Gate III was released for PC on Aug. 3 and was released for the PlayStation 5 on Sept. 7. Larian is still working on an Xbox version. It should be released in December; Larian promised to announce the release date during The Game Awards. By the way, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated eight times at The Game Awards, including for the Game of the Year category.
