The Rise and Fall of Paragon… Again

If you remember Paragon, then you know that was a MOBA game that had console level graphics (because it was playable on the PlayStation 4) way back in March 2016. However, 2 years later, Paragon would then be shut down on April 2018. It was quite unfortunate, as the game was really fun to play, but the game just didn’t have any content to keep players engaged.

4 years later, the game would see a resurgence under the name of Paragon: The Overprime in December 2022. It was rare to see games get resurrected after dying, but fans were happy nonetheless that the game was up and running once again under Netmarble this time, the same people who made Marvel Future Fight and Marvel Future Revolution, the latter having been shut down a year prior.

Things were looking good and Paragon: The Overprime was receiving support from fans both from the original and new fans that have joined the game. Things were looking good for a while until recently, Netmarble has announced that the game is going to be shut down once more.

Here is what they have to say:

First, we would like to express our wholehearted gratitude for your love and support over the past year and three months, starting with Early Access on Dec 8th, 2022.

However, we come to you today with unfortunate news.

Since Early Access, Paragon: The Overprime has been a work in progress,

as we’ve continued to explore, iterate, and think about different ways to meet our Warriors’ expectations.

After careful consideration, we concluded that we will not be able to provide a stable and satisfying service moving forward.

Because of this, we have made the decision to end the service on Monday, April 22nd, 2024.

We are deeply sorry for the unexpected and unfortunate termination of the service.

We deeply cherish the encouragement and support you have given us until now despite our shortcomings.

Once again, we would like to thank all of our Warriors for playing Paragon: The Overprime.

We will do our best to keep your experience as seamless as possible until the very end.

Thank you.

We at Paragon: The Overprime sincerely thank you for all the love you’ve shown us.

It seems that despite the game receiving support from fans, it wasn’t enough for Netmarble to visualize a stable future with the game. So, with that in mind, the decision to shut down the game was made… again. The funny thing about this is that they are shutting down the game on April 22, which is the same month and 4 days from April 24, which is when the original game shut down.

Netmarble also added a schedule for when the services will end, so best get what you need from the game now so you can at least say “yeah, I played that game”.
