EA Sports has been under heavy scrutiny in the past weeks, with every content creator calling them greedy. While the game is said to be in the worst state ever, EA’s revenue statements suggest otherwise. The game started off slow, improved after a few months, and now it’s reached rock bottom. So what’s been happening with EA FC, and why are the developers not commenting on everything that’s been happening? Buckle up because the timeline of events over the past week has resulted in players raging at the game.
EA FC’s Ligue 1 TOTS Rewards Drama
It all started when EA FC rolled out its weekly rewards for players who played the “Champions” mode last week. These rewards are given out weekly, and players grind for them because they are packs with highly rated players. When players unlocked the rewards, almost everyone got access to a red Mbappe card. This is still one of the highest-rated cards in the game, now going for above 10 million coins.
In an ideal scenario, only a handful of players hit the jackpot and get such an overpowered card. It turned out that this was a glitch that EA fixed three hours later. A similar glitch happened in January with Messi, and players were allowed to keep the card since the glitch was live for only 20 minutes. The Mbappe glitch went on for three hours, allowing thousands of players to claim the card. Unlike the Messi scenario, this time EA did not allow players to keep the card and took it back from their squads after a few days. This is what started it all.
I’ve never been a huge believer in protesting video games for improvement. But whatever. Fuck it. if everyone wanted to come together and collectively stop streaming and posting EAFC 24, I would and I mean it. Viewers and creators. I have no problem deleting the game myself until…

NickRTFM Tweets Out EA’s Greediness and Gathers Over 3.5 Million Impressions in a Few Days
After EA took the Mbappe card away from players, many content creators took to social media to vent at EA. NickRTFM, one of the most noted American streamers, went on Twitter and asked everyone who loves the game to stop playing it. Why? Instead of working on good packs and a better gameplay environment, EA focused on selling in-game packs. Many say the primary reason for the Mbappe pullback was to ensure players get access to such a highly-rated card only through paid store packs. The drama started from here and is probably going to last throughout this month.
Though not everyone supported the “Quit EA FC” drama, almost everyone agreed to stop buying FC points. NickRTFM later posted another video with the transfer market in “TheFutAccountant,” which showcased EA’s revenue for the past year. Apparently, game sales were roughly worth $2 billion USD, and the in-game currency sold accounted for around $5 billion. These were EA’s total sales figures, including every title. As far as in-game currency sales were concerned, EA FC alone equated to over 70% of the mentioned $5 billion figure. Despite EA FC hitting these numbers, many claim that the developers do not seem to care about their customer base and solely focus on selling more mediocre player packs and making more money.
Irrespective Of this Drama, Ea Needs TO Fix the Game Servers First!
While all of this unfolded, EA’s servers kept crashing, and players were getting kicked from games almost every hour. Many have called the state of the game the lowest ever in EA’s history while the company’s bank balance just keeps growing. Even the offline menu grind via the app crashes and shows glitched players. Hopefully sometime this week, EA responds to these allegations of focusing on money and not gameplay. For now, many content creators have requested that players stop buying FC points and play the game without opening store packs. It’s a tough ask, but that’s probably the only way for the game to improve and the drama to finally come to an end.
