With Overwatch 2 out and about, players who want to play it competitively need to understand how they can be the best. This includes the ranking system and how it works. Below is an easy-to-know Overwatch 2 Ranks guide that will help you as you climb toward the top.
Overwatch 2 Ranks
Through the Overwatch 2 competitive game modes such as Competitive Mystery Heroes, Open Queue, and Role Queue, a player can win through the ranks by getting rewards when winning a match. However, before you can play a ranked game, you first need to establish a record of winning 50 Quick Play games.
Each rank has 5 divisions except for the last one. After 5 wins the player can rise up a division and skill tier while after 15 losses or ties, their division might decrease. Below are the Overwatch 2 Skill Tiers/Ranks with their respective Divisions.
- Bronze – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Silver – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Gold – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Platinum – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Diamond – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Master – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Grandmaster – Division 1 up to Division 5
- Top 500 – Given to the players that are the Top 500 highest in their respective region
Who Can You Play With?
With eight skill tiers, there are some limitations as to who you can play with. The Overwatch 2 Ranking System allows those between the skill tier of Bronze to Diamond to be able to play within two skill tiers above or below them. This means Bronze players can team up with Gold players. Diamond players can match up with Grandmasters, along with everything in between.
However, interestingly, Masters are only allowed to play with other players within a one-skill tier range. This means they can only team up with Diamond and Grandmaster players. On another note, Grandmasters only have a three-division range so they’re stuck playing with people in the same skill tier. Below you can see the comprehensive guide for Overwatch 2 Ranks compatibility.
- Bronze – Two Skill Tiers
- Silver – Two Skill Tiers
- Gold – Two Skill Tiers
- Platinum – Two Skill Tiers
- Diamond – Two Skill Tiers
- Master – One Skill Tier
- Grandmaster – Three Divisions
- Top 500 – Depends on the Skill Tier of the player
Now that you understand how the Overwatch 2 Ranks and Ranking System work, you can focus on the grind. Rise up the ranks and you might be in the Top 500 in your Region.
