Nintendo finds new voice for Mario and Luigi after 30 years

Nintendo has found a new voice for the characters of Mario and Luigi in the games and movies after thirty years. Kevin Afghani will henceforth perform such statements as “It’s-a me, Mario” and “Mamma mia.”

Afghani’s voice will be heard for the first time in the game Wonder, which comes out Oct. 20.

In August, Charles Martinet announced he was calling it quits after more than 30 years. The 67-year-old voice actor decided to continue as a game ambassador. He did not disclose the reason for his departure. “My new adventure begins! You are all number one in my heart,” he wrote on X.

Martinet had been the voice of Mario in all Super Mario games and movies since 1991. He also voiced the voices of Mario’s brother Luigi and the villain Wario.
