What’s up with Valorant’s Night Market this act? Better Premium skins incoming?

For those who don’t know, the Night Market in Valorant is the cheapest way to get skins. Riot introduced this in League of Legends initially, and due to its success, the same system came into Valorant. Players can find the Night Market store in the top right corner of the menu screen. Once you enter the Night Market, you have the option to unlock five skins that will be discounted by 20-40%, depending on luck. Initially, the Night Market concept took off, and for years, players were waiting every act to get an option to buy discounted skins.

Why are content creators mad at Riot about Valorant’s Night Market?

With regards to Valorant skins, there are two sides to the story. Unlike Counter Strike, Valorant does not force you to open crates to get access to skins. CS crates spawn skins at random, and it is not necessary for any player to get a good skin right off the bat. In fact, players have spent enormous amounts of money (over $1k USD) to get access to a butterfly knife in Counter Strike. Since the skin spawn rate is random, players have to buy multiple crates and keep opening them until they get their favorite skins. Valorant, at the same time, does not follow this crate policy and gives access to individual skins but at a hefty price.

The developers surely know that the prices of balanced skins are expensive, which is why they introduced the Night Market in the first place. But now, content creators are furious with the fact that the quality of skins included in the Night Market keeps decreasing every year. A few of them posted on Twitter and urged Riot to fix this issue of featuring subpar skins in the market.

Did Riot just tease a new Night Market?

As per the standard Night Market rules, skins that cost under 1775 VP are featured, along with melee skins that go up to 3555 Valorant points. This was the major issue that upset a lot of content creators, as all the skins with good finishes are priced above 1775. And with the release of mediocre skin sets, players often find themselves stuck with basic skins at discounted prices. Skin bundles like the Avalanche Bundle, Nebula Bundle, and the Luxe Bundle often show up for every player. The mentioned bundles are basic bundles with no finishes, and players have ended up hating these bundles over time, all thanks to the Night Market.

Surprisingly, the recent tweet from the Night Market has showcased a glimpse of the Oni Katana, which is a highly priced skin. The melee goes for 5350 VP, which means it should ideally not show up in the Night Market. Since we can spot the katana in the recent tweet, maybe Riot has made changes to the skin rules in the Night Market? If they did, then the Night Market rules, Riot can expect a massive bump in their skin sales and maybe revive the Night Market madness. It’ll be intresting to see other pricy bundles show up in the night market.
