Developer CCP Games has revealed a multiplayer fps ‘module’ for EVE Online with EVE Vanguard. Players will have to do missions on their own or in small groups, collect resources and fight against other players. There will be a public beta of Vanguard in December.
Vanguard is developed in Unreal Engine 5 and players take on the role of a vanguard, clones who must perform contracts on the planet New Eden. Players can improve their clone’s equipment by playing the game mode. The game mode will be connected to EVE Online, CCP says, meaning Vanguard players will have an impact on that spaceship mmo’s game world. CCP is not giving many details on this yet, but says it plans to expand this impact in the future.
The game mode will be playable through the EVE Online launcher. The first publicly playable test of Vanguard will come in December with First Strike. CCP previously released an fps in the EVE universe in 2013, Dust 514, but it was taken offline three years later due to low player counts.
