Need For Speed Unbound Gets Year 2 Roadmap

Need For Speed Unbound is undeniably one of the most unique looking racing games out there right now. The art style goes for that realistic look, but also incorporates street art and animated character designs that somehow creates a pleasant new look for the franchise. While other racing games do feel better at driving (Forza Horizon 5), Need For Speed has a special place in everyone’s heart.

Just recently, Criterion released their roadmap for year 2 of the game, which is something not a lot of people thought the game will get, but are nonetheless happy that this game is still getting support. But the big question is: what’s in store for Need For Speed Unbound players in the year 2024?

Need For Speed Unbound Y2 Roadmap

Need For Speed Underground is looking to have some nicely themed Volumes that will take place throughout the year. First, we have Head to Head with Audi, which we’re assuming is a collaboration with Audi themselves. Next is Drift & Drag, which is a Volume that is entirely inspired by another popular Need For Speed title, Underground. Then we have Cops Vs. Racers, which is obviously inspired by Need For Speed Hot Pursuit. No information for the Volume between October and December yet, so we will have to wait for that.

Now for each Volume, we will be getting at least 1 new major game mode and/or feature, plus 2 new fully customizable cars (with multiple body kits), and a Speed Pass. But hold onto your seats, because the Speed Pass is also getting a new track called the Premium Track. If you’re aware with Battle Passes in games, you know that Battle Passes usually have a free track and a paid track.

Unbound’s Premium Track is essentially the paid track of the Speed Pass, which will allow you to get more content once you pay for it. The Premium Track is available once Volume 6 (Head to Head) is released soon.

Besides that, Criterion promises that the game will continuously get new events, Freedrive updates, weekly PVP playlists, progression updates, challenges, bug fixes, quality of life updates, and more.

Aside from that, the team behind Need For Speed Unbound has also released a very heartwarming statement that shows that the team behind Need For Speed Unbound are all passionate individuals who want to bring the best Need For Speed experience to fans.

Here’s what they have to say:

“We see this as a year to test and learn and understand what works best for you. Committing to an extended Unbound live service allows us to really build on feedback, which we’ll be gathering in a few ways. We’re working closely with a dedicated Player Council – a great bunch of NFS influencers, core community members, and players to understand what’s important to them and their communities. We’ll be increasing the amount of telemetry we track from the games to better understand through gameplay data what’s working for you. And we’ll look to close the feedback loop by being as transparent as possible with you, letting you know what we’ve heard and what we can and can’t do.”
