Elden Ring, the massively popular RPG developed by FromSoftware, was released back in February 2022, and since then, the game has gone to sell over 20 million copies worldwide across multiple platforms. Not only that, Elden Ring won the Game of the Year Award for the year of its release so it’s no wonder that everybody got hyped up when the Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree was announced via a post on Elden Ring’s official X account, formerly known as Twitter.

It has been almost a year since that announcement, and besides that, not much information has been released about the upcoming DLC. However, while there hasn’t been much development on the official side of the story, there have been quite a few interesting tidbits of information leaked via the unofficial channels. With that said, let’s take a look at what we know so far about Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree.

Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Content

At the time of this article, not much is known about the content that players will experience with the release of the new DLC. With that said, we know that most DLC for previous FromSoftware games featured a large new area that players could explore along with a plethora of new weapons to try out, enemies to fight, bosses to defeat, and lore secrets to uncover.

Many Elden Ring fans have speculated that the story of the DLC will take place after the events of the original game based on a single official image released, and will revolve around Miquella,  Malenia’s brother and one of the Empyreans. However, all of this is speculation and nothing has been officially confirmed at the time of writing this article.

Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Release Date

So all this brings us to what is probably the biggest question, when is Shadow of the Erdtree coming out? Well, according to the latest Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree news, something big is brewing and we can expect a major announcement very soon. Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree

According to some Shadow of the Erdtree leaks, something big is on the horizon and it is expected to be revealed sooner rather than later. In fact, many sources suggest that a major event such as a release date announcement, or a new Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree trailer might be revealed in February this year.

It is worth noting that if we take a look at the DLC for FromSoftware’s previous games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, we will notice that the majority of them were released a few months, to a little over a year after the release of the base game. This means that it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion could receive a surprise shadow release this February, no doubt to the joy of many Elden Ring fans out there.

Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Price

When it comes to the Shadow of the Erdtree price, it all depends on the expansion itself and the amount of new content that players receive. If we once again look at FromSoftware’s DLC for their previous games, we can see that most of them were more or less priced at around half of the base game

Shadow of the Erdtree

This is pretty standard practice for other games as well, which means that we can expect the first Elden Ring DLC to cost around $30. With that said, it won’t come as too much of a surprise if the Shadow of the Erdtree price ends up being slightly above that considering the fact that games are becoming more expensive in general and shifting away from the long-established standard price of $60.

Conclusion

All in all, Elden Ring DLC: Shadow of the Erdtree is definitely one of the most anticipated video game releases for 2024 and it is expected to release sooner rather than later.
