Developer Fool’s Theory and publisher 11 bit studios announced that The Thaumaturge release date will now be on March 4 instead of February 20, as originally planned.
Speaking jointly through a press release, Fool’s Theory and 11 bit studios gave the following explanation about the game’s delay:
. . .Taking February’s busy launch period into account and the opening for a better release window, we’ve decided to take this opportunity to give The Thaumaturge more breathing room so it receives the attention we believe it deserves.
We want you to have enough time to enjoy the game in full, and we feel that the current release window is not the perfect moment for it. With that in mind, we are moving the launch date to March 4th, 2024.
The additional time we’re getting will be used to polish the game further so that your journey through the streets of 1905 Warsaw is even more enjoyable.
We truly can’t wait for you to play it, and thank you for your patience!
This March 4 release date marks the second time The Thaumaturge has been delayed. It was originally slated for release on December 5, 2023, after it was first revealed on February 2023. The release date was then delayed to February 20, 2024, in order to “. . .add more polish and quality” and “. . .achieve the standards that players have come to expect.”
It’s also important to note that this new release date only applies to the game’s PC version; the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S / X versions will be available at a later date. There’s currently no information on when the console versions will be ready.
About The Thaumaturge
The Thaumaturge is a story-driven RPG with morally ambiguous choices, taking place in the culturally diverse world of early 20th-century Warsaw. In this world, Salutors exist – esoteric beings that only Thaumaturges can truly perceive and use for their needs.
Players take on the role of Wiktor Szulski, a thaumaturge on a quest to make peace with his past. Unfolding in 1905 Warsaw, the story revolves around the complex theme of inner demons and how in this world that can mean more than just a mental burden. Salutors feed on one’s darkest secrets and only the titular thaumaturge has the ability to relieve someone of this burden.
