Sony is testing a new beta update for the PlayStation 5. According to the manufacturer, among other things, it improves the audio from the speakers and microphone in the DualSense controller. The update also adds new features for the PS5’s Share Screen feature.
The beta is currently being tested by a few invited users in “a select number of countries,” Sony reported in a blog post. According to the console maker, among other things, the update increases the maximum volume of the DualSense and DualSense Edge speakers. In doing so, it also improves the noise reduction of the microphones, which should make them more useful for voice chat.
In addition, the update adds “interactions” to the Share Screen feature, which allows users to livestream gameplay to friends. The new feature allows viewers to place a sort of cursor on the host’s screen to point out objects or areas for the player, for example. Viewers can also display emoji reactions on the host’s screen. The host can disable this feature in the Share Screen settings, although it is enabled by default.
Furthermore, it will be possible to adjust the brightness of the LEDs on the front of the console. That feature can be found in the system settings, under “Beep and Light. It is not yet known when the features will become available to all users.
