Demos of Switch 2 were likely shown during gamescom

Nintendo has shown off new hardware behind closed doors at gamescom in the past, as was the case with the 3DS. It seems the Japanese company has done so again this year.

Sources from both Eurogamer and VGC have reported that demos of the Switch’s successor were shown during gamescom. This was done behind closed doors and only a select group of developers had access to this presentation.

According to sources, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, among others, were shown to demonstrate how much better this title ran on the ‘Switch 2′. Also reportedly on display was the Matrix Awakens demo, which was developed with Unreal Engine 5. The demos shown would have comparable quality to the current generation of consoles, made possible in part by DLLS and ray-tracing.
