CoD | The Worst Maps in the History of the Franchise

The Call of Duty franchise has been a staple in the gaming community for years, providing players with various maps to test their skills and strategies. However, not all maps are the same. Today, we will delve into some of the most despised maps in Call of Duty history: Bloc, USS Texas, Red Star and Stonehaven, and Santa Sena Border Crossing.

Bloc

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Bloc is a map heavily criticized by the CoD community. The map, set in an abandoned Soviet apartment complex, is a sniper’s paradise due to its long lines of sight and many hiding places. However, this design heavily favors snipers, disadvantaging other play styles. Its large size and labyrinthine design also lead to a slow pace of play, which contradicts the fast-paced action that Call of Duty is known for.

USS Texas

Next up is the USS Texas from Call of Duty: WWII. The map, set on a battleship, is notorious for spawn-trapping problems. The ship’s layout, with its narrow corridors and limited exit points, makes it incredibly easy for one team to control spawns and dominate the other. This lack of balance and fairness has led many players to avoid this map.

Red Star

Red Star, another Call of Duty: Vanguard map, is also on the list. The main problem with this map is its size. It is so large that it often leads to slow and tedious gameplay, with players spending more time searching for enemies than fighting. In addition, the map’s snowy environment can make it difficult to spot enemies, leading to frustrating deaths and a less enjoyable gameplay experience.

Stonehaven

Stonehaven, from Call of Duty: Ghosts, is another map heavily criticized by the community. Its vast expanse and open fields make it a sniper’s dream but a nightmare for other play styles. The large size of the map also leads to a slow pace of play, with players often struggling to find each other. In addition, the lack of cover and open lines of sight can make it extremely difficult for players to traverse the map without being hit by snipers.

Santa Sena Border Crossing

Finally, we have Santa Sena Border Crossing from Call of Duty: MW2. The main problem with this map is its lack of fluidity. It is a large, open map with multiple lanes and buildings, but players have no clear path to follow. This often leads to chaotic and disorganized gameplay, with players running around aimlessly and confrontations occurring randomly. In addition, the large map size and numerous hiding places can make it difficult to spot enemies, leading to a slow and frustrating gameplay experience.

While Call of Duty has provided us with some fantastic maps over the years, it’s clear that none of them have been hits. Bloc, USS Texas, Red Star, Stonehaven, and Santa Sena Border Crossing are maps the community has heavily criticized for poor design and unbalanced gameplay. Whether it’s spawn-trapping issues, large sizes, lack of fluidity, or favoritism towards certain play styles, these maps have failed to deliver the enjoyable and balanced gameplay experience that Call of Duty players have come to expect.
