Zero Build in Fortnite: Removed, Disabled, or Replaced?

Summary

    • Fortnite did not remove, disabled, or replace Zero Build despite player confusion following the February 2026 update.
    • Recent Love and Legends update moved Zero Build under the Battle Royale mode selection menu.
    • Access Zero Build through selecting Battle Royale by clicking the mode options above the Play button, toggling between Build and Zero Build modes.

Following Fortnite’s Valentine’s Day update, several players reported difficulty in finding Zero Build mode in the game’s interface. This confusion raised concerns across social media and gaming forums stating Epic Games removed Zero Build from Fortnite. However, you can still access Zero Build in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 and just relocated to a different menu position.

Zero Build Status Is Still Active in Fortnite

Contrary to what players speculated, Epic Games has not removed, disabled, or replaced Zero Build mode. Rather, the confusion was caused by the user interface modifications introduced in the recent Love and Legends update on February 5. Epic Games simply reorganized the game’s Discover menu to reduce visual clutter.

With this, they moved Zero Build from its own tile in the Discover section to the main Battle Royale category. Now, the mode stands as a core Battle Royale variant instead of a separate game mode.

Why Epic Games Relocated Zero Build

Currently, Epic Games has not issued any official statement explaining the specific reason behind relocation of Zero Build. However, some analysts suggest that the change perhaps is to streamline the Discover tab that is getting crowded with game modes, events, and creative islands. Also, this move helped Epic simplify the main menu navigation while maintaining full access to both gameplay styles.

Through consolidation, players can quickly switch between Build and Zero Build variants without navigating through multiple menu screens. This is advantageous for players that regularly switch between building and no-build gameplay.

Accessing Zero Build After the February 2026 Update

Following the February 2026 update, accessing Zero Build in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 requires an additional step. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate to Zero Build in Fortnite interface:

    1. Start from the main lobby screen then scroll downward through the available content.
    2. Wait until you find where the Battle Royale category is within the Discover menu.
    3. The Battle Royale section should appear under the “By Epic” filter.
    4. Once you select the Battle Royale tile, simply click the mode options button directly above the yellow Play button.
    5. This should open the secondary menu and display the choice between Build and Zero Build modes.
    6. Then, you can choose your preferred option and configure additional settings including Ranked Mode section and squad size preferences.
    7. After completing the selections, click the Play button to initiate matchmaking for Zero build.

Take note that the current system will not show Zero Build under the search result despite typing it into the Discover menu search bar. Instead you have to access the mode exclusively through the Battle Royale mode selection process.

Final Thoughts

Epic Games has not removed, disabled, or replaced Zero Build among their game modes in Fortnite. It simply moved locations under the Battle Royale tab due to the user interface modifications from the recent patch. You can still find and play the mode by scrolling through their available content.
