Zenless Zone Zero 2.1: Yuzuki, Alice, and Tower Overhaul Leaked

Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.1 is right around the corner, and while HoYoverse hasn’t locked in the official special program date, most signs point to a reveal between July 4 and July 12. With the patch expected to go live around July 18, leaks have already begun pointing to what could be one of the biggest summer updates yet. From Spook Shack characters to game mode revamps and a full auto battler PvP event, here’s what to expect in Version 2.1.

Yuzuki and Alice Arrive in Version 2.1 Banners

Two new characters headline Version 2.1: Yuzuki Yusuka (previously misleaked as Yukinami Yuzua) and Alice Twiningfield. Both are part of the Spook Shack faction and will release across two banner phases. Yuzuki appears in Phase 1 as a Physical support unit, offering attack buffs, energy regeneration, and resistance penetration. Her fluid kit enables quick deployment after perfect dodges or assists, making her ideal for both mono-physical and hybrid Anomaly teams.

Alice takes over in Phase 2, operating as a Physical Anomaly hybrid agent. Her abilities center on a unique Sword Energy resource, mark setups, and combo cycling. If managed well, her damage output scales fast and rewards technical play. Her visual design and combat animations already stand out—expect her to become a fan favorite quickly.

As for reruns, speculation from leaker Leifa suggests a double pairing: Miyabi might return in Phase 1 alongside Yuzuki, while Yanagi could accompany Alice in Phase 2.

Summer Skins, Proxy Freebies, and Miyabi’s Long-Awaited Outfit

No Zenless update is complete without fashion flair. Both Yuzuki and Alice are getting summer swimsuit skins, and while pricing isn’t confirmed, they are unlikely to be free. However, the update does include free Proxy skins for Belle and Wise, available through in-game events. These can be earned by completing event objectives, with no premium purchase required.

Miyabi’s long-rumored skin—first spotted in early dev leaks—might also finally make its debut this patch. There’s no final render yet, but if her rerun happens, a skin drop is likely timed with it.

Failma Heights Expansion and the Chill Summer Vibe

Version 2.1 brings a much-needed map expansion to Failma Heights, complete with Hollow nodes, puzzle content, and a new event hub. It’s all tied into the summer theme—beach setups, boats, deck chairs, and even a souvenir shop at a scenic lighthouse. Unlike Port Elpizo, which felt underutilized, this new zone is built to be a real social and exploration space.

Tower Update: Battle Trial Glory and Leaderboards

The Battle Trial Glory mode is getting a competitive makeover. As players climb the 50-floor tower, they unlock milestone medals ranging from Bronze to Undefeated Legend, visible on their profile cards. Floor 50 also unlocks Glory Certificates, which open up server-wide rankings.

These rankings are based on:

  • Total skill score

  • Certificate count

  • Average technique score of your top 10 agents

Combat now includes Technique Ranks, from Candescent to Supernova, encouraging stylish gameplay through juggling, perfect dodges, interrupts, and combo chains. Falling mid-run resets your bonus multipliers, so clean execution matters more than ever.

Bangboo Chess: Full Auto Battler with PvP Ranks

Version 2.1 introduces Bangboo Chess, a structured auto battler PvP mode. The event starts with tutorials explaining bond mechanics, then scales up into class-specific PvE challenges before entering ranked qualifiers.

Players climb a competitive ladder from Silver to Ether Plus, unlocking additional missions at each tier. The competitive mode adds urgency by matching six players in fast-paced elimination rounds. Strategic depth and quick thinking will separate casuals from leaderboard climbers. It’s ZZ’s answer to the rising popularity of auto chess formats.

Deadly Assault and Defense Adjustments

On the high-difficulty end, the Deadly Assault boss HP gets a bump—from 91.9 million to 101.8 million, raising the bar for DPS checks. Shu Defense mode sees mixed changes: some enemies, like Jane Doppelgänger, have reduced HP, while others—Patrol Jäger and Demolition Jäger—now hit harder with HP buffs over 1.5 million. Auto-clearing might no longer cut it—smart team compositions and rotations are key.

Bonus Pulls, Polychromes, and the Patch Timeline

As always, the special program will include 300 free Polychromes, and leaker Flying Flame suggests we could get 20 free pulls as part of a new login event. While not confirmed, it could mirror similar past events. Either way, the special program is worth tuning in for and should premiere a week before launch.
