Xbox Game Pass is getting a major update with a full Xbox Game Pass upgrade across all plans. After listening to player feedback, Microsoft is rolling out expanded libraries, more platforms, and new partner perks. With updated plan names and big feature improvements, subscribers will see more value regardless of which tier they choose.
Essential Plan Expands with Cloud and PC Support
The first big change is to Essential, previously called Core. Essential now allows play on Xbox Console, PC, and cloud, making the service much more flexible. Players can stream games to supported devices and tap into a growing library of over 50 titles. Online multiplayer remains included, ensuring squads can stay connected.
Essential also introduces in-game benefits for major titles such as League of Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Overwatch 2. On top of that, members can earn up to 25,000 Rewards points per year, redeemable for gift cards, games, or add-ons. This means DLCs and bundles can be unlocked just by playing regularly.
Premium Tier Adds Bigger Game Library
Next is Premium, which replaces the Standard plan. Unlike its predecessor that mainly targeted console users, Premium broadens its reach with console, PC, and cloud access. The game count climbs past 200, and Xbox-published titles are added to the library within one year of launch.
Premium subscribers will also enjoy the same in-game bonuses as Essential, from cosmetics to character unlocks. Rewards are doubled here—up to 50,000 points yearly—with exclusive quests and bonus points for purchases. For players who want breadth without jumping to Ultimate, Premium hits a strong middle ground.
Ultimate Takes Day-One Games Further
Ultimate remains the top option, and it continues to deliver day-one access to Xbox-published games. Upcoming releases such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, The Outer Worlds 2, and High on Life 2 highlight its biggest draw. But the plan is expanding further: over 75 day-one games will now be included each year.
New partner perks are also coming. Ubisoft+ Classics joins EA Play as part of the bundle, while Fortnite Crew arrives in November. Altogether, Ultimate grants access to more than 400 games across console, PC, and cloud, with premium streaming quality and shorter wait times. Ultimate members also lead in Rewards earning potential, collecting up to 100,000 points annually—four times more than Essential.
Why This Xbox Game Pass Upgrade Matters
These changes signal Microsoft’s effort to unify the subscription tiers and give players more consistent access across devices. Essential becomes a real entry point with PC and cloud support, Premium strengthens with a huge library and bonus rewards, and Ultimate grows into an all-inclusive package.
With wider options, partner perks, and point incentives, this Xbox Game Pass upgrade ensures that players at every tier get more than before. For fans deciding which plan fits best, the differences now come down to how much content and how many rewards they want tied into their subscription.
