Who knew putting together a team could be the difference between wiping the floor with enemies and getting totally wrecked in Wuthering Waves? This game is awesome, but building a dream team can be tricky. Here are some helpful team composition tips and tricks for creating a winning squad in Wuthering Waves.
Understand the Roles
Just like in many other RPGs, the core team roles in Wuthering Waves are DPS (damage dealers), Sub-DPS/Support, and Healers/Shielders. The main DPS character will be dealing the bulk of the damage, so this is often who you want to build your team around. Sub-DPS and Support characters buff and enable the main DPS while also contributing decent damage themselves. Finally, Healers and Shielders help keep the team healthy and protect them from incoming attacks.

Match Damage Types

Having a team that deals primarily one damage type can be a liability against certain opponents. Variety is key.
Early and Late Game Teams
In the early game before acquiring any 5-star characters, a solid free-to-play team is Rover as main DPS, Chixia as Sub-DPS, and Baizhi as your healer. This gives you a nice balance of damage and sustainability.
For late game, one of the strongest team compositions is Jiyan as the ultra high damage main DPS, Mortefi or Aalto as Sub-DPS to further amplify Jiyan’s damage, and Verina as the premium healer/buffer Support.
5-Star Carries
If you manage to get your hands on one of the 5-star powerhouses like Jiyan, Calcharo, Encore or Lingyang early on, they can effectively carry you through a huge portion of the game when built correctly. Make sure to pair them with Sub-DPS and Supports that synergize with and enable their specific damage types and abilities.
For example, Calcharo works incredibly well with Yinlin providing Electro buff Support and Verina boosting his overall damage numbers. Or Encore can demolish with Yangyang refilling his energy for frequent Bursts while Baizhi keeps him healthy.
Other Utility
While the three core roles are paramount, don’t neglect other utility that could provide a key advantage in certain situations. Characters that provide crowd control, energy regeneration, shielding, elemental application or other tools can be indispensable against certain lineups or opponents. Having this utility in your back pocket is ultra valuable.
