Blizzard just dropped a massive wave of hotfixes on May 8, 2026, for World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5. If you have been struggling to climb the arena ladder or secure your raid spots, these changes shake up the meta entirely. Developers took direct aim at the fast paced burst damage in PvP while handing out some much needed love to underperforming PvE specs.
Class Balance Updates
Use this table to quickly highlight the major class and spec tuning adjustments.
This table breaks down the systematic and item-specific nerfs aimed at slowing down the arena burst meta.
For rank grinders and casuals alike, this patch means your current builds might need an immediate update. Healers get more breathing room in arenas, and certain DPS classes just became top tier picks for Mythic+ and raids. We are breaking down exactly who won, who lost, and what you need to change in your loadout today.
Restoration Shamans and Warlocks win big in PvE
Restoration Shamans are the undisputed winners of this hotfix. Blizzard noticed the spec was lagging behind, so they handed out a flat 8% increase to all healing. On top of that, Resto Shamans received a massive 30% buff to all damage. This turns them into a powerhouse for Mythic+ where healer DPS directly impacts your timer. If you main Resto Shaman, you can now push higher keys with much less stress.
Warlocks also walked away with a heavy bag of buffs. Affliction players will see a 20% damage increase to Unstable Affliction and Corruption, plus a 10% bump to Seed of Corruption. This pushes their sustained area of effect damage through the roof. If you need a ranged DPS for your raid group, Affliction Warlocks just moved up a tier.
PvP burst gets nerfed to the ground
Arena players have been vocal about the blink and you die meta, and Blizzard listened. The Gladiator’s Distinction PvP trinket set bonus now increases your total Stamina by an additional 5%. This global health pool buff means every single player in the arena now survives burst windows just a little bit longer.
The developers also targeted specific broken items. The Voidstone Shielding Array necklace was dominating PvP because its absorb shield was entirely too strong. As of this hotfix, that absorption is slashed by 50% in PvP combat. If you relied on this necklace to survive opener bursts, you need to rethink your defensive cooldown rotation immediately.
The Blooming Infusion bug is finally dead
Restoration Druids have been exploiting a very specific bug that inflated their healing numbers. The Blooming Infusion talent was incorrectly counting each target of Nature’s Bounty or Rampant Growth as a separate, additional cast.
This allowed Druids to pump out absurd amounts of healing for free. Blizzard squashed this bug completely. If you play Resto Druid, expect your overall output to drop, and you will need to manage your mana much more carefully in long fights.
What you need to do right now
If you play Restoration Shaman or Affliction Warlock, log in and test your new damage numbers. You can take on more aggressive pulls in dungeons.
For PvP players, the extra 5% Stamina changes your kill windows. Do not blow all your offensive cooldowns instantly because targets will live through it. You must also check your gear. If you have the Voidstone Shielding Array equipped, decide if the 50% nerfed shield is still worth the slot or if you need to swap to a more offensive option.
