Wolfenstein 3 and a live-action Wolfenstein TV series are both reportedly still moving forward, according to a new report from Windows Central. While neither project has received an official update from Microsoft or Bethesda, the report claims the company continues to invest in the franchise following the success of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
If accurate, the plans would see the next Wolfenstein game and its television adaptation developed alongside one another as part of Microsoft’s broader multimedia strategy.
Microsoft Continues to Invest in Wolfenstein
According to Windows Central, MachineGames remains at work on Wolfenstein 3 despite the game’s continued absence from official announcements.
The report states that Microsoft’s confidence in the studio has grown after the commercial and critical success of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. As a result, the company is said to be continuing its support for MachineGames and the long-running first-person shooter series.
The report also claims that the previously announced live-action Wolfenstein series for Amazon is still in development. It is reportedly being developed with producers involved in Amazon’s Fallout adaptation, with the goal of expanding the franchise across both games and television.
Neither Microsoft nor Bethesda has publicly commented on the current status of either project.
Leadership Changes Raise Questions
The latest report follows recent organizational changes within Bethesda.
MachineGames co-founder Jerk Gustafsson recently assumed a broader leadership position that also includes oversight of Arkane Studios. While the move has prompted questions about MachineGames’ future projects, there has been no official indication that it has affected development of Wolfenstein 3.
Earlier Reports Suggested Development Was Underway
The latest claims align with earlier, unconfirmed reports about the sequel.
According to previous industry insider reports published in January 2025, MachineGames was developing Wolfenstein 3 alongside another unannounced project reportedly inspired by tactical shooters such as Rainbow Six Siege. Separate reports later claimed that performance capture work had begun on Wolfenstein 3 under the internal codename Valkyrie, with full production expected to continue throughout 2026.
None of those details have been officially confirmed by Bethesda or Microsoft.
The Series Has Been Quiet Since Youngblood
The Wolfenstein franchise has not received a new mainline release since Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus launched in 2017. The most recent entry, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, arrived in 2019 before MachineGames shifted its focus to developing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
While fans are still waiting for an official reveal, the latest report suggests Microsoft has not abandoned the series. Until the company makes a formal announcement, however, the reported status of both Wolfenstein 3 and the live-action TV adaptation should be treated as unconfirmed.
