The Witcher 3: Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing Best Choices

Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing is a Blood and Wine quest in The Witcher 3 that sends Geralt looking for Jean-Louis Ludovic, Beauclair’s missing barber. Completing the quest unlocks Jean-Louis’ salon in Toussaint, including access to his unique Queen’s Pageboy haircut.

The quest eventually presents a timed dialogue choice involving Beau Duvall. Both options ultimately rescue Jean-Louis and provide the same outcome with the barber, but one lets Geralt settle the confrontation without killing Duvall and his companions.

How to Start Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing

Before this quest becomes available, you must first complete or fail The Warble of a Smitten Knight.

Afterward, find Le Papillon south of the Nilfgaardian Embassy in Beauclair.

Speak with him to learn that Jean-Louis Ludovic, Beauclair’s barber, has disappeared.

Your investigation begins at Jean-Louis’ barbershop.

When you arrive, use Aard on the door to force your way inside.

Head upstairs and search the southern desk. Interact with Jean-Louis Ludovic’s Map, which provides the next clue to his whereabouts.

You’ll then need to follow Le Papillon as he leads Geralt toward the location shown on the map.

Follow Le Papillon and Find Jean-Louis

Continue following Le Papillon until you reach the first search area.

An Archespore is waiting here, so defeat it before continuing.

At the next location, use your Witcher Senses to investigate the area. You’ll discover Jean-Louis’ basket and a set of footprints.

Follow the tracks until they lead Geralt into a cave.

Inside, you’ll finally find Jean-Louis, but he isn’t alone.

A knight named Beau Duvall is holding the barber responsible for an embarrassing haircut. Duvall claims the disastrous hairstyle caused him so much shame that he withdrew from a tourney, and he now intends to take his anger out on Jean-Louis.

Geralt intervenes, triggering a timed dialogue choice.

“Doesn’t Seem Chivalrous” or “Hair Grows Back”?

You have two responses to Beau Duvall:

Choice Outcome
“Doesn’t seem chivalrous…” Geralt fights Beau Duvall in a duel. After Duvall loses, his allies take him away.
“Hair grows back.” Duvall becomes furious, forcing Geralt to fight and kill him and his allies.

The important point is that Jean-Louis is rescued regardless of which response you choose.

The difference is how the confrontation with Duvall ends.

What Happens If You Choose “Doesn’t Seem Chivalrous”?

Selecting “Doesn’t seem chivalrous…” leads to a duel between Geralt and Beau Duvall.

Defeat Duvall and his companions will drag him away.

This resolves the confrontation without requiring Geralt to kill Duvall or fight his entire group to the death.

Jean-Louis is rescued, and the quest continues normally.

What Happens If You Choose “Hair Grows Back”?

Selecting “Hair grows back.” insults Duvall enough to turn the confrontation into a deadly fight.

Geralt must defeat Beau Duvall and his allies, killing the group rather than resolving matters through a duel.

There isn’t an additional XP or loot incentive for taking this route, and rescuing Jean-Louis produces the same practical result afterward.

The choice therefore primarily determines how Geralt handles Duvall rather than changing Jean-Louis’ fate or the quest rewards.

How to Unlock the Queen’s Pageboy Haircut

Once Jean-Louis has been rescued, his barber services become available in Beauclair.

You can find his salon south of the Nilfgaardian Embassy, at the same barbershop investigated earlier in the quest.

Jean-Louis offers the usual selection of hairstyles and beard options available from other barbers, but he also has one exclusive style:

Queen’s Pageboy

It’s the same notoriously unfortunate hairstyle at the center of Beau Duvall’s grievance.

Completing Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing therefore does more than rescue Beauclair’s missing barber. It permanently gives Geralt another place to change his appearance in Toussaint while adding the unique Queen’s Pageboy to his haircut options.
