Nintendo Switch players craving a dose of Warhammer 40,000′s signature blend of dark humor and explosive action are in luck: Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron has blasted onto the Nintendo eShop, courtesy of Phosphor Studios and RedDeer.Games.
In this new aerial shooter, brave (or perhaps foolhardy) pilots step into the role of an ork commander, leading their squad of Flyboyz in a brutal war against treacherous goblins. Expect mayhem, plenty of explosions, and the unique brand of grim hilarity synonymous with the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
Players can customize their experience by selecting from five distinct ork clans, each offering unique gameplay advantages to suit a variety of playstyles. Whether you favor a more aggressive, heavily-armed approach or prefer a defensive style focused on outlasting the enemy, there’s an ork clan with your name on it.
Dakka Squadron takes the fight across five alien worlds, with landscapes as varied as the ork war machines themselves. Objectives range from intense dogfights to the defending strategic ground targets, keeping the action varied and fun. Missions promise dynamic gameplay, with potential for sudden objective shifts and varying levels of difficulty, ensuring no two battles feel the same.
Customization plays a significant role, allowing players to tailor their Dakkajets to their liking. Of course, no ork vehicle is complete without the right paint job and some intimidating glyphs to strike fear into the enemy.
Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron is available on both the Nintendo eShop and Steam for $19.99 or equivalent (the Steam version has been around since February 2021). While the game is ready for takeoff, developers have announced a day-one patch is in the works, promising optimization tweaks and user interface improvements. Updates on the patch’s exact release date will be announced soon.
