Warframe’s Plague Star has finally returned, running only until September 24th, and it’s once again one of the best ways to farm built Forma. The event takes place on the Plains of Eidolon, where players must destroy the infested boil before the Grineer can let it overrun Cetus. The bounty is split into four stages, each with optimisations that can shave down minutes per run. With the right Warframes, gear, and strategies, it’s possible to farm six or more runs an hour.
Warframe Plague Star Frames to Use
For solo runs, Volt is the strongest choice thanks to his speed and buffs. His second ability boosts sprint and reload speeds, while his third adds a solid damage buff, making him a one-frame powerhouse. Nova is another strong option, particularly for faster Hemocyte spawns. Players can also succeed with Wisp and Loki, though they require more effort.
In squads, team composition becomes more flexible. Nova should almost always be included for efficiency. Volt and Wisp remain excellent, while Titania and Rhino add strong utility. With coordinated setups, groups can consistently clear advanced bounties in under ten minutes.
Stage 1 and 2 Optimisations
Stage 1 – Steal the toxin:
-
Deploy a Necramech at the exit to hold the door open for quicker exits.
-
Skip Konzu’s dialogue using the Nightwave screen trick.
-
Use Volt with Speed + Archwing or Titania with Razorwing Blitz for movement.
-
In caves with elevators, skip by dropping down the shaft or using Operator Void Sling on the way out.
-
Loki with Saviour Decoy augment can teleport directly out after being damaged during toxin pickup.
Stage 2 – Defend the mixer:
-
Place the toxin in the mixer and defend for three minutes.
-
Call in an On Call crew member with a Kuva Zarr to handle enemies automatically.
-
Move around to reposition the crew for better firing angles while looting in downtime.
Stage 3 Drone Escort Tricks
The drone stage is all about speed buffs.
-
Volt’s Speed dramatically increases drone movement and trivialises enemy resistance.
-
Wisp can provide an alternative speed buff, though less powerful.
-
Nova portals can shorten the route, but require careful placement.
-
Loki Switch Teleport can move the drone ahead, but aiming must be precise.
Positioning is key—if stage 2 is near the boil, the drone spawn will be closer, saving precious time.
Stage 4 Hemocyte Battle Tips
This is where the biggest optimisations lie.
-
Nova’s Molecular Prime speeds up Hemocyte emergence, letting fights start faster.
-
Use Vastilok or Sarpa with Shattering Impact to strip armor quickly.
-
Counter damage attenuation with high fire-rate, multishot weapons like the Kuva Hek or Strun Prime (without Incarnon mode).
-
Pair with Energized Munitions for sustained ammo efficiency.
-
Solo players benefit most from Volt, who provides speed, damage, reload boosts, and shield recovery in one kit.
To keep heads open longer, Rhino Stomp or the Gorgon with Metamorphic Magazine augment can immobilise Hemocytes briefly. Coordinated squads may not need slows at all if their DPS is strong enough.
Efficient Rewards and Farming
Each Plague Star run rewards standing, which can be spent at Operational Supply for built Forma, Omni Forma, and event-only cosmetics such as the Aspirus Ephemera, Cryptanaut Necramech Helmet, Protosomid Shoulder Guard, Earth Console, and Murex Console. Advanced and Steel Path runs can be completed in around ten minutes with efficient squads, allowing for six runs per hour. At peak efficiency, this nets 6–7 built Forma an hour, valued at 70–85 platinum.
Solo farming is still effective, though slightly slower at 4–5 Forma an hour, with runs averaging 12 minutes. While burnout is possible, Plague Star remains the most efficient method of farming Forma outside of trading. With its limited-time availability, grinding during the event is highly worthwhile.
