Varesa, the Electro Catalyst from the Collective of Plenty, is a new star rising in Genshin Impact with the impending arrival of Version 5.5. It is this frantic character that truly brings an upheaval to the way you play by introducing her own set of unique mechanics. What sets this character apart and makes her truly unique? Continue reading for a definitive guide to everything there is to know about Varesa!
Playstyle Overview
As a Plunge Hypercarry, Varesa focuses on providing a nice transition between Charged Attacks and Plunging Attacks. She will likely function best when built around maximizing damage output and mobility via her Elemental Skill and Burst kit.
With her Nightsoul mechanics, she can upgrade those attacks even further by accumulating Nightsoul points via various means. These points act as a currency for entering states like Fiery Passion or activating certain effects during combat.
Ability Kit
- Normal Attack
Varesa’s Standard Attacks, which can be executed successively up to three times, all inflict Electro DMG. With this basic attack mechanism, players can keep up some steady damage while saving big hits such as Charged or Plunging Attacks for later in their gameplay strategy.
- Charged Attack
Consumes stamina to perform a headbutt that does Nightsoul-aligned Electro DMG and sends Varesa up in the air. The use of stamina suggests the need for careful management during prolonged fights or when chaining attacks in rapid succession.
- Plunge Attack
Plunging upon the ground will deal AoE Electro DMG. Upon doing a plunge, Varesa gains 25 Nightsoul points if she is in combat or hits an enemy.
- Elemental Skill (Rapid Advance Mode)
As soon as Varesa taps her Elemental Skill, she rapidly dashes forward, damaging anything in her way. While doing so, she gains the Pursuit effect that increases interruption resistance against enemy attacks.
Holding the skill will activate Rapid Advance mode which gains increased speed. In this state, she can cross the terrain without taking Liquid Phlogiston damage.
- Elemental Burst (Limit Drive State)
When Varesa’s Elemental Burst is activated, she leaps into the air, executing a flying kick that will restore the Nightsoul points to their fullest.
With this burst activation, she enters the Limit Drive, letting Varesa spam her burst at a lesser energy cost without cooldowns. This is a real game-changer for sustained high-damage capability over long periods as opposed to the burst-dominant usage pattern trend in Genshin Impact.
Synergies and Team Compositions
Characters such as Xilonen or Iansan could grant some nice ATK boosts and improve overall team performance by increasing the stats of individual characters whose contributions were fully directed toward support through electro-based builds specifically designed to make the most of Varesa’s nightsouls gameplay style.
Artifact Set and Ascension Materials
Varesa will be getting a brand new Artifact Set, specifically designed in mind for her Plunge-oriented playstyle. Other Artifact Sets may come into consideration, like Thundering Fury or Shimenawa’s Reminiscence for a Crit Rate/Crit Damage-focused build. That depends upon how well these sets synergize with Varesa’s unique ability kit post-release when more refined strategies become available.
In her ascension process, Varesa requires 420,000 Mora. In addition, 46x New Weekly Boss Materials are also needed, most likely relevant to a new World Boss in Version 5.5. Looking at Electro-specific ascension materials, she will need:
- 1x Vajrada Amethyst Sliver
- 9x Vajrada Amethyst Fragments
- 9x Vajrada Amethyst Chunks
- 6x Vajrada Amethyst Gemstones
Conclusion
And thus, the stage is set for Varesa to work her magic into Genshin Impact with her special skills and playstyle. All that now remains is to wait until its Official Launch in Version 5.5! There will surely be a pleasant twist to your teams! Keep your eyes on the prize and stay tuned for any further updates!
