Valorant’s Vyse: The Truth Behind Her Abilities and Ultimate

In this post, we explore every myth related to the new Valorant Agent Vyse. What happens when her abilities and ultimate are paired with those of other agents? Read more to find out.

Dodging Vyse’s Ultimate by Dropping Your Gun

Hundreds of comments inquired whether dropping a gun could dodge Vyse’s ultimate. After 3 seconds, the primary weapon becomes jammed. Picking up a pistol works fine, but if a Phantom is picked up after the fact, it remains blocked. This ability acts as a status effect on the player rather than on the weapon. Even if the gun is dropped and picked up again or a different gun is taken, primary weapons cannot be used for a full 8 seconds.

Vyse’s ultimate does not jam weapons like Chamber’s ultimate or Jett’s knives. After 3 seconds, Chamber’s ultimate remains usable, while the Phantom remains blocked. Switching back to the ultimate weapon works fine.

Vyse’s Arrows: Visibility, Destruction, and Information

When Vyse’s flash is placed on a wall, an animation and audio cue occur, making it visible from about 10 meters away. This is farther than Cypher’s trips or Killjoy’s utility. The flash has 20 health and can be destroyed with a single shot from most abilities. When destroyed, the cooldown extends to 45 seconds, compared to the usual 20 seconds if not destroyed.

If an enemy is blinded by the flash, Vyse’s voice line, “Good hit,” is triggered. The flash sound also changes slightly when it hits someone, providing two indicators of a successful hit, similar to Skye’s flash.

Standing on Vyse’s Shear and Moving Through Razor Vines

Once Vyse’s wall pops up, it pushes you to the side if you attempt to stand on it to boost yourself. However, you can stand on the wall itself if a nearby box is used. The wall is solid when it appears, though practical applications are unclear.

Moving through Vyse’s razor vines generates sound, even when shift-walking or crouching through it. The audio cue is always present.

Vyse’s Razor Vines and Shear Interaction with Abilities

Vyse’s razor vines do not damage stationary players. If the ability pops underneath a player who remains still, no damage occurs. A player can even strafe slightly without taking damage, but movement beyond a certain distance triggers damage. This means a player could stay in place without taking damage but would be vulnerable to enemies.

Abilities like Wingman, Skye’s dog, and Yoru’s clone do not activate Vyse’s shear. Wingman and Skye’s dog pass through the detector without triggering the wall. However, Yoru’s clone currently does not activate the wall due to a bug, which developers plan to fix.

Steel Guard’s Interaction with Resurrections and Kay/O’s Suppression

When Vyse’s ultimate hits a player and they are subsequently killed and revived, the jammed effect is cleared, allowing the weapon to be used again before the 8-second window expires. This likely applies to Sage’s resurrection and Phoenix’s ultimate, which also clears the jam status effect.

KO’s suppression does not cancel Vyse’s ultimate. Even with Kay/oO’s ultimate, the timing does not effectively counter Steel Guard, making it unlikely to counter it purely based on reaction time.
