Valorant Patch 9.05 introduces changes to a few agents, especially Omen, Chamber, and Astra. These adjustments could reshape the meta and bring chamber back into the mix now.
Agent Updates – Valorant Patch 9.05
Omen
Omen’s voice lines have been updated in this patch. While it might seem like a minor change, it’s worth noting for those who enjoy the character’s lore and interactions.
Chamber
Chamber’s Rendezvous teleport radius has been increased from 13 meters to 18 meters. This change significantly impacts Chamber’s gameplay, as the larger radius allows for safer repositioning and more aggressive plays. This update also opens up new strategies for Chamber, making previously ineffective positions viable again.
For those unfamiliar, the effectiveness of Chamber often revolves around the Rendezvous. Despite several attempts to nerf him, nothing truly affected Chamber’s pick rate until his Rendezvous was weakened. Buffing it now, even if not to its original state, will make a noticeable difference.
Astra
Astra’s Stars have been increased from four to five. After previous patches reduced Astra’s power in abilities like Gravwell, Nova Pulse, and Cosmic Divide, she struggled to compete with other controllers. This increase in stars grants Astra more flexibility in using her utility without sacrificing her ability to smoke effectively throughout a round.
Before this buff, there was hesitation about giving Astra five stars again, due to the fear that players have become more skilled and might find ways to exploit Astra’s potential with five stars. However, with this change, it’s expected that Astra will become a prominent controller on several maps.
Astra and Omen Synergy:
This buff could lead to a meta where Astra and Omen both become frequent picks, especially on certain maps. For example, Abyss may see a rise in Astra-Omen compositions, as EDG, the world champions, have already showcased the effectiveness of this combination.
The change might also result in Astra replacing Viper on some double-controller maps. This shift would make the controller meta more diverse and exciting, with potential experimentation involving Astra, Omen, and other controllers.
Additional Changes
Raze’s Stim Beacon:
The patch also adjusts the Stim Beacon effect, which could disrupt players’ ability to spray accurately, making it harder to hit shots. The update modifies the rate of recoil control to match the default rate of fire, providing a small buff to the Stim Beacon by maintaining consistent recoil control.
Weapon Updates
Aries
The Aries has received buffs in this patch, potentially making it a viable option again. The Crouch benefits nerf has been reverted from 25% back to 40%, which now aligns with the Odin. Additionally, the headshot multiplier has increased to 2.5, meaning that within 30 meters, two headshots can kill an enemy.
While this buff makes the Aries stronger, it’s uncertain if it will become a popular choice. The weapon might see more use in specific situations, such as a second-round purchase or in the hands of agents like Sova on Ascent, but overall, players may still prefer weapons like the Stinger, Sheriff, or Vandal.
Bug Fixes
Several bug fixes were included in this Valorant patch 9.03. Notable fixes include:
- Deadlock Sonic Sensor, Cypher’s Spycam, and Arrows can now be placed on certain map walls during the buy phase.
- Various bugs related to Omen and KAY/O have also been resolved.
