Ubisoft Restructure Signals Big Changes for Assassin’s Creed and More – Gaming News

It’s been a wild week in gaming with Ubisoft shaking up its entire internal structure. A major Tencent deal could change the future of Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and more. Ghost of Yote is shaping up to be one of the most exciting upcoming releases. And out of nowhere, Titanfall 3 rumors are suddenly back in full force. Keep reading for more gaming news.

Ubisoft Restructure Leaves Future Uncertain for Many Studios (Gaming News)

The latest developments from Ubisoft reveal a significant corporate restructure. As reported, Tencent is set to invest €16 billion into Ubisoft to form a new subsidiary that will oversee the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises. In return, Tencent will receive 25% of the profits from these major IPs. This shift will dramatically impact the internal structure, with the future of Ubisoft’s “Zone 1” studios now under scrutiny.

According to an internal memo obtained by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, Ubisoft expects a sweeping reorganization due to the relocation of major franchises. Ubisoft Quebec, the lead studio behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will fully shift to the new Tencent-backed entity. This move likely means the studio will focus solely on large RPG-style Assassin’s Creed entries, moving away from projects like Immortals.

Montreal, one of Ubisoft’s largest teams, is split between the new entity and the existing Ubisoft structure. While parts of the Montreal teams working on Far Cry 7 and Rainbow Six Siege will shift, other projects remain under Ubisoft’s original organization. Studios in Toronto, Winnipeg, Red Storm, and Blue Mammoth will remain with the current Ubisoft framework—though some suspect this could lead to downsizing.

What’s The Plan?

Toronto’s recent output, including Watch Dogs: Legion and Far Cry 6, failed to meet expectations, and the studio is currently working on the troubled Splinter Cell remake. Notably, studios like Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Bordeaux were left out of internal updates. Massive recently released Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and is working on Star Wars Outlaws and The Division 3, but their silence in these plans has raised eyebrows.

Ubisoft Bordeaux, creators of Mirage and the first DLC for Shadows, recently moved into a larger office. Despite their success, they were not mentioned in any future-facing plans. Ubisoft states more clarity will arrive after the summer, with a final structural implementation set for the end of the year. While the flagship titles may benefit from focus and funding, many smaller or secondary projects face uncertainty.

Ghost of Yote Offers Custom Playstyles and Deep Weapon Variety

One of the most anticipated upcoming titles is Ghost of Yote. While Sony has not revealed gameplay footage yet, it’s likely to appear during their late May or early June State of Play showcase. In the meantime, new character details were shared. Atsu, the game’s protagonist, seeks vengeance for her family’s death. Players can accept bounty and odd jobs to earn coin and shape her journey.

Unlike Ghost of Tsushima, which followed Jin’s transformation into a shinobi, Ghost of Yote promises deeper gameplay freedom. Players can choose how Atsu evolves, and her arsenal is significantly broader—featuring weapons like the Odachi, Kusari-gama, and dual katanas. With stealth and combat options aplenty, the direction of the story and character progression will depend on player decisions.

Titanfall 3 Rumors and Upcoming Releases Round Out the Week (Gaming News)

The weekly rumor roundup focuses on a major leak: Titanfall 3 may arrive in 2026. Two reliable Apex Legends leakers report that a new Titanfall game is in development. This comes two years after Respawn’s leadership publicly stated that Titanfall 3 was not on their roadmap. However, given Titanfall 2’s cult following and the continued success of Apex, a revival may be in the works.

There’s speculation that the new entry could focus solely on multiplayer, though fans are hoping for a single-player campaign like Titanfall 2’s, which received critical acclaim. The rumor has been given a two-star rating out of three, suggesting cautious optimism.

Meanwhile, Sony is set to reveal more details on Marathon, Bungie’s extraction shooter. This title is under pressure to justify Sony’s $3.7 billion acquisition of Bungie. Additionally, South of Midnight officially launches April 8 and debuts on Game Pass. Reviews cite impressive presentation and audio, though simple gameplay and combat are noted weaknesses.

The first major update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming soon, highlighting Ubisoft’s push toward RPG-focused titles.
