Top 5 Duelists to Watch Out for During Valorant Masters Shanghai

Valorant Masters Shanghai is kicking off soon, and we have an exciting roster for almost every team this time. From 100 Thieves locking in as the underdogs to the regulars like PRX, every team is ready and loaded. While it might be tricky to place your bets on the team to win it all, some players have been dominating this year.Let’s take a look at the best players participating in the Masters Shanghai.

Aspas – Leviatán

Aspas is currently named the best player in the world. For those who don’t know, Aspas has played in almost every major tournament and never disappointed. This duelist main holds the best kill record, including a 48-kill match against Sentinels. His raw aim and mechanics are the best in the game right now. With Leviatán looking to win a major trophy, Aspas might just be the player to help them achieve that dream.

Texture – Gen.G

Texture from Gen.G had an amazing start to the season, leading his team to the finals of Masters Madrid. He has been changing teams and finally seems to cement himself as one of the best players from Asia. After a tough spell with Global Esports, he has regained form with Gen.G, and now they look like a force to be reckoned with. As a duelist main, he’s known for dominating his matches with Jett and Raze. Since the start of 2024, Texture has consistently helped Gen.G perform at their best. For Masters Madrid, they lost only a handful of maps, including the finals.

Asuna – 100 Thieves

100 Thieves have had a mixed run of tournaments since Valorant launched. With the likes of Hiko and Steel helping them during the initial stages, they later retired and handed over the baton to younger players. Now, after years, 100T are back in an international tournament, winning the Americas playoffs and surprising almost everyone. Throughout the history of 100T, one player has consistently performed, and that is Asuna. From being the duelist of the team to later becoming the in-game leader, Asuna has evolved into a true Valorant pro. He has already produced highlights from previous tournaments, and this year is likely to be no different.

Derke – Fnatic

Until last year, Fnatic were easily considered the best team in Valorant. 2024 started rough with the team not qualifying for Masters Madrid. This was the first time Fnatic couldn’t make a major LAN tournament. Luckily, they quickly shook off the “washed” allegations and won the European playoffs, silencing their critics. Derke has always played a significant role in helping the team secure the initial frags they need. He’s known for playing Jett and has been considered the best duelist in LAN tournaments.

He was the star when Fnatic came back from 10-2 to win against LOUD in what was considered the greatest comeback in Valorant history. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more of his aggressive playstyle in the coming weeks.

Jing – Paper Rex

Jing made his return to competitive play after taking a break for a while. The year started with Monyet replacing Jing and performing very well, making it all the way to the Masters finals. Jing is now available, which means Monyet will be the 6th man for masters Shanghai. This means, Jing will return to the starting roster. Jing is one of the most dangerous players in Valorant  right now. With PRX being a major advocate of “W gaming,” Jing leads the way in making sure this strategy is viable for Masters Shanghai.

Jing aggressively pushes opponents all the way to their spawn while defending with an eco buy. His playstyle demands him to proactively put the attackers on their back feet, making it unplayable for them at times. Watch out for Jing on Raze. He has been mastering that agent since the game launched and is probably one of the best Raze players in the professional circuit.
