Wales: Gravel Stages That Demand Respect

One of the most challenging gravel terrain in the sport is found in the Welsh rally stages of Assetto Corsa Rally. It has unpredictable weather conditions and technical forest sections which will test your ability as a driver. These are the two stages you can race in Wales:

Hafren North

It is the most demanding stage in the Welsh location with six unique variants across 100% gravel surface. The stage reaches a maximum elevation of 514 meters for dramatic elevation, requiring precise throttle control and strategic line selection. The longest variants here stretch for 11 kilometers which is Cwmbiga to Afon Biga and reverse.

With this length, it will challenge your consistency and concentration as a driver. There are Medium and short variants offered as well at 6-kilometer and 5-kilometer segments respectively.

Hafren South

If you prefer a more compact rally experience, then Hafren South offers two 4-kilometer variants. Despite being shorter than Hafren North, the stage still exudes the challenging Welsh gravel character. Its elevations range between 345 and 410 meters to test the ability of their racers.

Alsace: Technical Tarmac Masterclass

On the other hand, Alsace in France delivers a completely different challenge with 100% tarmac stages. The asphalt routes wind through mountainous terrain which demand precision, courage, and understanding of weight transfer dynamics. Like Wales, it has two main stages with multiple variants:

Vallée De Munster

Alsace offers Vallée De Munster as the most challenging stage with six variants showcasing massive elevation changes of the region. It climbs from an elevation of 883 meters to 1,160 meters at its highest point. Meanwhile, its two flagship variants such as Vallée De Munster Descente and Montée that span 10 kilometers each.

Once you reach its descending route, make sure to prepare for a brake. Other variants provide varied experience through their distances such as:

    • Forêt de Munster (6 km)
    • Luttenbach près Munster (7 km)
    • Col du petit Ballon (5 km)
    • Sommet de Munster (5 km)

Saverne

Closing out the Alsace track is the Saverne with four tarmac variants at lower elevations at 355 to 456 meters. Among the four variants, the Forêt de Saverne boasts the longest route at 9-kilometer. This is briefly followed by Steigenbach with 8-kilometer and Obersteigen and La traversée de La Mossig at 4-kilometer.
