The Outlast Trials Prime Time 2026 Patch Brings Prime Roulette and Two New MK-Challenges

Outlast Trials Prime Time 2026 | Best event takeaways for catalog grinders, Escalation players, and Invasion squads after Red Barrels changed Imposter behavior and added new routine therapies

Red Barrels dropped the Prime Time 2026 update for The Outlast Trials on May 19, 2026, and it is one of the bigger mid-season content drops the game has seen. The patch brings a new event, a brand new variator called Prime Roulette, two new MK-Challenges, and a round of Invasion fixes that will change how group runs play out.

The Outlast Trials: Prime Time 2026 Update Tracker

Category Feature / Mechanic Status Key Patch Details Tactical Impact
Limited Event Prime Time Catalog LIVE Closes permanently on June 16, 2026, at 10 AM ET. Event Tokens do not carry over and are forfeited upon expiration.
New Variator Prime Roulette NEW Rotates multiple Prime Assets simultaneously into a single Trial. Replaces predictability; a new threat spawns the moment one retires.
MK-Challenge Win the Truth PERMANENT Propaganda-themed trial situated inside the Fun Park / Toy Factory grid. High complexity; requires counting and solving numerical wall glyph puzzles.
MK-Challenge Incinerate the Relic PERMANENT Fanaticism-themed trial based inside the central Resort asset. Multi-room puzzle requiring thermal thawing to unlock hidden gospel relics.
Invasion Imposter Scales Overhaul Spawns strictly match party size: 1–2 players = 1, 3–4 players = 2. Eliminates scaling reduction mid-trial if teammates bleed out or disconnect.
Invasion Projectile Balancing Rework Extends Imposter projectile invulnerability windows. Prevents survivors from chain-stunning Imposters with stacked throws.
Cosmetic “Enhanced” Tier Reintroduced The previously scrubbed “Rare” tier returns under a new designation.

If you have a short window to grind the event, you need to know that the Prime Time Catalog closes permanently on June 16 at 10am ET. Unused Event Tokens are forfeited when it ends, so there is no saving them for later.

Outlast Trials Prime Time 2026 | Prime Roulette, token deadline, new MK-Challenges, and the Invasion changes that matter most for solo, duo, and four-player runs

Prime Roulette: What It Does and Why It Matters

The centerpiece of the patch is Prime Roulette, a new variator that puts multiple Prime Assets into the same Trial at the same time. Once one Prime Asset retires, another rotates in immediately, keeping the pressure running for the entire session without a break.

There are two more variators tied to the Prime Time event as well. Break the Television tasks Reagents with destroying defective televisions scattered across the Trial for bonus rewards. Extra Prime Asset Traps does exactly what it sounds like: more traps everywhere.

Prime Roulette is a separate variator from the Prime Time variator that already existed. Both are available, so you may encounter them in different combinations depending on your session.

Two New MK-Challenges: Win the Truth and Incinerate the Relic

This patch adds Win the Truth and Incinerate the Relic as new MK-Challenges.

Red Barrels’ official description for Win the Truth frames it around blind consumption and manufactured knowledge, which points to a psychological-themed Trial with a heavy propaganda angle. Incinerate the Relic leans into religious destruction, hinting at fire-based objectives or mechanics built around burning.

These are the two new permanent MK-Challenge additions. Players familiar with Escalation and customs will want to check both early since MK-Challenges with trap-heavy layouts tend to become popular picks in those modes once the community figures out the layout.

New Routine Therapies Coming After the Event Ends

When Prime Time wraps on June 16, two new routine therapies roll out back to back.

  • Classified runs June 16 to June 30. Multiple secret variators are added to the therapy. You do not know what they are until you are already inside.

  • Mirror runs June 30 to July 14. The trial perspective is altered to mislead Reagents.

Both therapies run for two weeks each.

The “Rare” Cosmetic Tier Is Back, Now Called “Enhanced”

Red Barrels quietly brought back a cosmetic tier that was previously removed from the game. It is now listed under the name Enhanced instead of Rare.

The patch notes do not explain what caused the original removal or what specific items fall under the new Enhanced designation, but the tier is back in the catalog system starting with this patch.

Invasion Changes That Will Affect Group Play

This patch rewrites several Invasion rules, and they shift the mode more toward intentional design rather than the semi-chaotic state it was in before.

Imposter deployment is no longer tied to how many Reagents are alive. It now follows total party size only: 1 to 2 Reagents in the session spawns 1 imposter, and 3 to 4 Reagents spawns 2 imposters. If your teammates go down mid-run, the imposter count no longer drops along with them.

Imposters now have a longer invulnerability window after taking a projectile hit. Extra hits during that window produce reduced reactions, and scoring penalties from projectiles are paused while the invulnerability is active. This means stacking hits on an imposter right after the first projectile connects is less effective than it was before.

Ex-Pops no longer react to imposters unless there is a direct obstruction. This cleans up a common frustration where environmental pop items would trigger from imposter movement.

A bug was also fixed where a Reagent could still be executed by an Imposter that had been interrupted by another player bashing through a door.

Other Fixes Worth Knowing

Bandage exploit patched. A bug that let players reuse bandages by canceling the animation mid-use has been fixed.

Escape the Lies removed from Escalation. The Trial has been pulled from the Escalation pool because there is no Shuttle sequence in Escalation to allow loadout selection, which made the Mandatory Secondary Objective variator non-functional there. Red Barrels confirmed this was the reason for the removal.

Classified variator tutorial fix. Tutorials for randomly selected variators inside the Classified weekly no longer appear at the start of a Trial, removing a situation where the tutorial screen was accidentally revealing what the hidden variator was.

Event Tokens Expire June 16: Spend Them Before Then

The Prime Time catalog is live now and contains event-exclusive rewards tied to Prime Time Event Tokens. Red Barrels confirmed that once the event ends on June 16 at 10am ET, the catalog is removed and any unspent tokens are gone.

If you are grinding for catalog rewards, pace your sessions now rather than banking tokens for the final weekend. There is no carryover.

After June 16, the schedule shifts to the Classified therapy for two weeks, then Mirror for two weeks, giving players a structured content ladder through mid-July.
