The First Descendant 3 October Update Adds Swords, Modules, and Skins

The First Descendant has just previewed its 3 October Update, and it’s turning out to be one of the most content-heavy patches yet. From new melee weapons and areas to limited-time skins and balance changes, here’s a full breakdown of everything coming to the game.

New Swords and Transcendent Skins

Two new melee weapons are being introduced: the Shadow and Delex Mana Swords. Both use their own unique ammo and come with special abilities. These additions also coincide with updated Transcendent-tier skins for swords, including visual and sound effect adjustments for Way of the Warrior and Manus Set cosmetics.

A new external component is being added as well, allowing players to boost melee weapon attack power — a solid enhancement for those focusing on close-range builds.

New Void Vessel Area and Hover Bike Sections

A new facility zone will appear in the Void Vessel, serving as a mid-sized dungeon primarily for farming the new swords and components. The boss inside this zone also wields swords, creating a thematic melee challenge.

This dungeon even features hover bike sections, offering a fresh traversal element to mix up the usual pacing. It’s a creative addition that adds variety beyond standard missions.

New Trigger Modules: Supply Fortress, Wave Eruption, and Rhythmic Step

The update also expands the module system with three new trigger modules:

  • Supply Fortress – Designed for Ajax and Kyle, this module restores ammunition when shields take damage and enhances reflected damage output.

  • Wave Eruption – Best for Blair, this module increases damage when using emission-type skills, stacking with sustained use.

  • Rhythmic Step – Exclusive to Luna, this grants stacking buffs to movement speed and maximum shield when using rhythm-type skills.

Each module provides stronger customization options and opens up new combinations for character-specific builds.

Lava Citadel and System Updates

A new Void Abyss Intercept Battle, titled Lava Citadel, is being added. This fiery variant of the Molten Fortress rewards players with special skins and Calltoy drops after victory. Lava Citadel is weak to chill-based skills, making element planning crucial for success.

The Laboratory is also seeing updates, introducing the Legion of Breach and raising the monster spawn cap to 50. Beyond that, reactor weapon optimization conditions are being removed. To compensate, all players will receive three Crystallization Callus as part of the transition.

Additionally, Amorphous Materials can now be opened in Albon through the new Shape Stabilizer, expanding where these items can be used.

New Skins, Balance Changes, and Event Pass

The cosmetic side of the update is substantial:

  • Male Descendant Skin: Touchdown

  • Female Descendant Skin: Viva Sparklings

  • Halloween Skins (October 16): Dizzying Camouflage, Dream Rascal (Succubus concept), and a Frankenstein-inspired creature skin for male descendants

  • October 23: Maid-themed skin called Cleaning Service

Kyle will receive skill improvements, while Ajax, Bunny, and Esiemo will have balance adjustments.

A special Sword Event Pass will run for four weeks starting October 1. Upgrading to the premium version for 1,000 Calibers and reaching level 30 unlocks rewards including Shadow’s Transcendent Skin: Harmony and Balance and Delex Mana’s Transcendent Skin: Furnace.
