Summary:
- A bunch of enemies, like the Aggadon Hunter, mix ranged and melee, requiring quick adaptation in dodging, blocking, and attacking.
- Mobility and unpredictability, like teleporting or invisibility, adds to the difficulty by making enemies hard to follow and hit.
- Determining and exploiting specific weak spots when in staggered or parrying states is necessary to beat these enemies.
As far as DOOM: The Dark Ages goes, some of the hardest enemies are going to be ridiculously painful in testing your skills, patience, and nerves. These aren’t just regular demons stuff; these enemies will make you think about every move you are about to make. If you think enemies are tough enough, just wait till you get blasted by the awful cocktail of enemies that this game will serve up!
Cosmic Baron

The Cosmic Baron, born from a forbidden campaign of gene-splicing, is exhausting and is a masterclass to play against. This bad boy has two blades and puts constant pressure on players. And of course, it has a violent three-swipe melee attack that can be parried to stagger him. The Cosmic Baron also uses a purple projectile that can absorb yours and drain your health if not parried quickly.
Agaddon Hunter

The Agaddon Hunter operates at close to mid-range in battle. At long range, it has an invincible shield, and the Agaddon Hunter will attack with swarms of projectiles. This includes a gigantic shield, homing skulls, and soon enough, you’ll be outside its proximity.
Once you’ve closed the distance, you will have to deal with the parryable combo attempts. It has the shield charge and the delayed overhead sword swing all at once, testing the player’s timing and reflexes. Like the Marauder from Doom Eternal, it has that test of skill and difficulty that makes it unique.
Revenant

The Revenant is back with a grim reaper-like design; this time, it’s not sporting whatever cybernetic enhancements it’s had before. This Revenant has skull missile launchers and wields a sickle for melee. It retains the Revenant speediness of hovers in the air and keeping its distance.
The hardest part about the Revenant is its ability to shift from physical to ethereal. As a result, it cannot be damaged by attacks unless projectiles are parried back at it. It force players to learn to parry to return the Revenant to physical form before being able to deal damage.
Acolyte

Acolytes teleport in an unpredictable manner, unlike Revenants who simply dash from place to place. Even then, Revenants in this game are quite a handful, too, but Acolytes are hard to predict and aim at. Acolytes have a purple shield that protects them from damage, and the shield is sustained by a competing “twin” in the arena you are fighting them in. With that, players have to figure out how to take both out to disable their shield.
Acolytes can also attack from a long distance and will avoid getting close and getting into melee damage. Running at an Acolyte without managing to disable its shield allows for a good ass beating returned to you.
Cyberdemon

The Cyberdemon dominates the battlefield with slicing melee attacks and unleashing raucous amounts of rockets from its arm cannon. The Cyberdemon has an unholy amount of health and will need exact and prolonged fire, and ignores splash damage. It has a frightening presence, which is only amplified by its roar that announces impending doom. Regardless of its frightening appearance and power, the Slayer can turn the tide by focusing on destroying the Cyberdemon’s cannon.
Nightmare Imp Stalker

This version of the Imp Stalker is bigger, stronger, and they have basically a cloak of invisibility too. Because the Stalker is shadowy and elusive, you can’t use the best defensive moves like the shield slam or toss. Also, you have to be nervous and closer to careful with your attacks. The close-quarter attacks are savage, with claws that tore through flesh and metal. Their unthinking aggression can be overwhelming to fight against, especially when they are the first line of soldiers you see.
Komodo

This huge, reptilian demon is heavily armored, with a bizarre cybernetic left arm and a crazy double-bladed chainsaw staff. The Komodo demon has an abrasive and multidirectional combat style. Typically, it runs in to swing massive melee attacks with the ground smash, dual-chainsaw swings, and a tail whip wagon. While it attacks, the Komodo is simultaneously shooting fireballs that cannot be parried, which the player must dodge or block. Its left arm is a crucial weakpoint to Glory Kill once stunned with melee parry combos with the Shield Saw.
Conclusion

That’s a wrap on the hardest enemies that make DOOM: The Dark Ages an exciting and memorable experience. These aren’t just foes, they’re a worthy challenge to stay alive and improve your skills. Fighting them is more than brute force, you have to use strategy, timing, and, sometimes, a sprinkle of luck. After all, it’s overcoming them that makes the thrill of the game.
