Teamfight Tactics Patch 15.5 has locked in without a B patch, making this one of the tightest metas so far. With Jinx bugged and Star Guardian at the top, certain comps stand out as mandatory while others settle into A-tier support roles. Here’s a closer look at the comps worth focusing on, how to itemize key champions, and what makes this patch so different.
Star Guardian dominance in Patch 15.5
Star Guardian is without question the most powerful comp in TFT Patch 15.5. Jinx benefits heavily from a mana bug, which makes Spear of Shojin her best item. The comp stabilizes easily with Poppy and Jinx, while Zeri becomes the ideal holder of utility items due to her quick and frequent casts.
Because of shield synergy, adding K’Sante for the Protector bonus is critical. Items like Even Shroud and Ionic Spark cover penetration needs, while Kraken Slayer or Guardian Angel on Jinx can push damage further. Two Star Guardian players appear in almost every lobby, and the comp performs even without a perfect start.
Mighty Mech holding strong
Despite losing some of its augments, Mighty Mech remains a safe option. The early game benefits from Gangplank as an item holder, Karma as the AP carry, and Senna applying Red Buff or Morellonomicon. The comp peaks at seven Mechs with Yone as a must-have win condition.
Jarvan IV works best with mana tank items, while Ryze can frontline thanks to his Strategist shield. The build thrives with an economic opener, but once Yone is secured—even at one star—it becomes one of the most stable paths to late-game power.
Tiny Team and flexible augments
Tiny Team revolves around its namesake augment, pushing Jinx, Poppy, and Zeri into a deadly core. From there, Snipers and Wraiths round out the comp, with Janna and K’Sante fitting naturally. While not as consistent as Star Guardian or Mighty Mech, it offers a strong alternative when contested.
Hyperactive on Jinx is the most desirable augment, while Poppy can take generic tank boosts. The comp’s weakness is heavy item reliance, especially needing swords for Jhin and Varus, but with the right drops it stabilizes hard at level 8.
A-tier options for different starts
A handful of other comps stay playable but require strong openings:
-
Battle Academia Yuumi benefits from her rework, still favoring Jeweled Gauntlet and five Prodigy setups.
-
Kayle reroll shifts to a faster build with Jeweled Gauntlet, Giant Slayer, and Red Buff. Six Wraith provides better scaling than tank-heavy variants.
-
Soul Fighter Samira works if opened with tournament favorites or good pairs, leaning on Sett as a tank and Samira as the main carry.
-
Crew and Bastion Zeri reroll round out the field, with Crew relying on Ziggs and Sivir early, while Zeri reroll thrives with six Bastion and precise itemization.
These A-tier comps can still climb, but they aren’t as reliable as forcing Star Guardian or Mighty Mech when uncontested.
