TFT Patch 14.6 Brings Loot System Fixes and Key Trait Nerfs

Patch 14.6 arrives during a stable meta for Teamfight Tactics, introducing light changes to maintain balance ahead of the upcoming set. With consistency being the main focus, Riot Games has implemented changes to loot rounds, traits like Dynamo and Golden Knox, and underperforming two-cost champions. Here’s a full breakdown of what’s coming in TFT Patch 14.6.

Loot System Adjustments in Patch 14.6

After last patch’s item rework, the loot system receives further refinement. Riot has reduced the randomness in Stage 2–4 PvE rounds by guaranteeing both gold and items in each. While total gold income slightly drops, players will now consistently receive at least some gold and more items across games.

Additionally, Scuttle Puddle and Crab Rave have been updated to now drop one component—up from zero in the last patch. This restores a little more reward without overwhelming inflation.

Trait Changes: Dynamo, Exotech, Golden Knox, Syndicate, Vanguard

Dynamo has been dominating, particularly with Elise and Morgana. However, Riot attributes much of this to the trait itself, not individual champions. The bonus is now nerfed from 5/7/11 to 4/6/10, with minor compensation buffs planned for affected units like Misfortune.

Exotech receives slight buffs—+10 HP per item at five units, and +60 HP with +2% attack speed at seven units. While this may not push it to the meta forefront, it could reward high-roll comps more often.

Golden Knox, considered the best cap trait, is being lightly nerfed to reduce the disparity between first and eighth place outcomes. Its base damage amp is reduced slightly, and it will offer fewer free components.

Five Syndicate gets a buff of +50 HP and +3% damage amplification to encourage more mid-level Syndicate lineups.

Six Vanguard has underperformed, so Riot has added 8% more shielding to improve its viability when fully invested into.

Champion Buffs and Nerfs: Focus on Two-Cost Units

Several two-cost units have lagged behind, and Riot is aiming to make them viable again:

  • Darius now heals more per target hit and has reduced damage fall-off, boosting his potential in reroll comps.

  • Ekko receives a modest heal increase without upsetting balance in comps where he pairs with Nico.

  • Illaoi gains a +100 heal at three-star to improve her late game.

  • Jhin has his mana stats adjusted to cast more frequently.

  • LeBlanc, Ross, and Scarner all get minor improvements to increase their presence in comps. Ross in particular gets a significant heal buff, encouraging tank builds.

  • Vayne receives a sizable base attack speed boost after falling off with the Ginsu’s rework.

  • Gragas, Senna, Varus, and Cho’Gath also get small tweaks—though Cho’Gath’s three-star form gets a slight nerf due to overperformance.

  • Garen gets a major buff with -20 starting mana, potentially allowing multiple spell casts in a single round.

Item and Augment Tweaks

Following the item system rework, Patch 14.6 brings edge-case adjustments:

  • Spirit Visage, Radiant Ginsu’s, Titanic Hydra, and Shiv: The Indomitable all receive buffs to improve usage.

  • Sterak’s Gage sees its shield reduced in strength and duration to discourage tank misuse.

  • Void Staff now has a longer debuff duration, making it more reliable in backline scenarios.

  • Radiant and Artifact items like Radiant Striker’s Flail, Radiant Void Staff, and Flickerblade get tuned for better balance.

Augment-wise, Ross’s Hero Augment gets a buff, while Board of Directors, Overheal, Speed Kills, and Hard Commit all receive nerfs. Final Reserves had been over-delivering due to unintended value and now gives significantly less base XP.

Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Updates

Riot also addressed multiple bugs affecting Ziggs, Renekton 3, Tome of Traits, Uhma Squad, and Garen’s trait mod application. Tooltips for augments and items have also been corrected, ensuring more accurate in-game clarity.

Patch 14.6 is a lighter update focused on smoothing out edge cases and setting the foundation for Set 15. The loot system is more reliable, traits have better parity, and underused champions are seeing thoughtful adjustments. With only two patches left in the set, these updates aim to ensure a satisfying finish before spoiler season begins.
