Tekken 8 Fakumram Guide: Best Moves and Combos

Tekken 8’s roster welcomes back the thunderous Muay Thai legend, Fakumram. First introduced in Tekken 7 as a DLC character, Fakumram makes a brutal return with long-range strikes, armor-breaking kicks, and accessible inputs. While he’s relatively easier to handle compared to the more execution-heavy characters in the game, Bandai Namco has equipped him with fresh mechanics that set him apart in this latest installment.

In an early preview, Bandai Namco Esports Manager Alex Jebailey walked us through Fakumram’s latest kit. Let’s break down his mechanics, key punishes, and go-to moves for anyone looking to master the towering striker in Tekken 8.

New Mechanics and the Garuda Force Buff (Tekken 8 Fakumram Guide)

Fakumram now benefits from a Garuda Force Buff, which unlocks when you land one of several moves: down forward 1,2, forward forward 1+2, the final hit of back 4,3,2, a successful punch parry, or simply by entering Heat Mode. When the buff is active, Fakumram gains access to his classic Tekken 7 Rage Drive, and a unique stance called Rama when his tornado kick or erupting knee is fully charged—even on block.

From Rama stance, he can launch into multiple mixups: an unsafe low, a jail midstring, a plus-on-block mid, an unblockable, and a command throw. These mixups become especially dangerous since he can cancel the charged animations or fire off homing attacks, making side-stepping a risky affair.

Tekken 8 Fakumram: Notable Moves Breakdown

Let’s walk through some of Fakumram’s strongest normals:

  • 3+4: A returning mid with 18 frames startup that knocks down on hit and stuns on counter. Tracks right and is safe at -9.

  • Forward Forward 3: A new low that’s +4 on hit, tracks right, but is -14 on block.

  • From Crouch Down Forward 2: A 19-frame low with +4 on hit, counter knockdown, and access to a guaranteed Garuda buff via forward forward 1+2.

  • Down 4: A fast, launch-punishable low that turns into a throw on counter hit.

  • Back Forward 4: An 18-frame high that causes crumple on hit, is +6 on block, and breaks armor. Can be ducked and punished, but still terrifying.

  • Forward 4: A slow ax kick that’s +3 on block and +14 on counter, allowing for guaranteed follow-ups.

  • Down Forward 3,3: A low into fake mid mixup with tracking and knockdown potential.

  • Back 3: Now a Heat Engager. Safe 16-frame high that causes wall stun.

  • Up Forward 2: High power crush that’s safe and side-stepable.

  • Forward 3+4: A 22-frame mid power crush with worse frame data but strong pressure.

Punishers, Heat Engagers, and Wall Options

Fakumram has an impressive punish toolkit:

  • 10F: 1,2 or 1,4 (+8 on hit).

  • 12F: 2,1 for wall stun and knockdown.

  • 13F: 3,1 gives +7 and pressure.

  • 14F: Three strong choices—Back 1 (guaranteed follow-up), Up Forward 3 (Heat Engager), Back 2,1 (wall stun).

  • 15F: Down Forward 2,3 is the go-to launcher. Down Forward 1,2 grants Garuda. Down Forward 4 is your Heat Engager.

  • 20F: Up Forward 4 for a traditional hopkick launcher.

From crouch or after blocking a low, his wall standing options include:

  • 11F: WS4, standard poke.

  • 13F: WS1,2, which also wall stuns and acts as a Heat Engager.

  • 14F: WS2,4, for either wall stun or knockdown with a follow-up.

  • 15F: WS3, traditional launcher.

Fakumram Combos and Gameplay Style

While Fakumram’s startup on many attacks is slower than average—such as his 15-frame down forward 1—his buttons compensate with huge reward and range. His running moves help close space while staying plus, and his stance transitions add strong mixups to his kit.

New and returning players should focus on his Garuda Force setups and use his safe mids to pressure, while baiting sidesteps using stance cancels or homing follow-ups.

Fakumram isn’t just strong—he’s commanding. His return in Tekken 8 is everything longtime fans hoped for.
