The second week of Teamfight Tactics Patch 15.5 has solidified the meta with a few meta team compositions. Jinx and Mighty Mech continue to rule, while several A-tier options like Kayle, Soul Fighter, Crew, and Protector Kog’Maw are finding success.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s strong right now and how to play each comp effectively.
S-Tier: Star Guardian and Mighty Mech in Patch 15.5
Star Guardian Jinx remains the standout this patch. Riot did not nerf her, so she still shreds teams with items like Giant Slayer, Kraken Slayer, and Infinity Edge. Spear of Shojin is a top-tier mana item for this comp, working well on both Jinx and support units like Seraphine or Zeri. For the frontline, Poppy with Protector’s Vow, Sterak’s Gage, and Crownguard paired with the Best Defense power-up is extremely reliable.
Mighty Mech revolves around Karma, Jarvan IV, and Yone. Start with units like Aatrox, Gangplank, or Lucian, then transition into a mech-centered team. Karma thrives with Blue Buff and Jeweled Gauntlet; Yone handles frontline damage. The comp’s power spike depends on finding Yone, so manage economy and keep a strong early game.
A-Tier: Tiny Team, Kayle Reroll, and Soul Fighter
Tiny Team Jinx requires the Tiny Team augment but pays off when active. Double Kraken Slayer plus Infinity Edge melts boards thanks to her boosted attack speed. Poppy runs standard tank items, while Zeri can hold items for Varus until the final unit is ready.
Kayle Reroll (Wraith Build) focuses on early Kayles and items like Red Buff, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, and strong Radiant/Artifact options. The comp shines once Kayle reaches three stars. Tanks like Zac or K’Sante fit perfectly here, especially alongside Protectors.
Soul Fighter Samira & Gwen demand hitting Gwen or obtaining Soul Fighter emblems early. Naafiri is great in the early game, while Samira, Sett, and Gwen carry mid to late. Prioritize power-ups like Attack Expert or On the Edge for Samira and Crimson Veil for Gwen.
A-Tier Continued: Crew and Protector Kog’Maw
Crew is straightforward and great for climbing. Roll for three-star Malphite and Sivir. Gargoyle Stoneplate on Malphite is essential, while Ziggs becomes the main backline carry once upgraded. Slam strong early items and transition as soon as your first Crew unit hits three stars.
Protector Kog’Maw spikes with Radiant/Artifact items like Dawncore, Statikk Shiv, and Flickerblade. Pair Protector or Bastion frontlines with a three-star Kog’Maw to leverage rapid casts. Power-ups like Caretakers or Fairy Tale are ideal—Fairy Tale shifts priority to stacking frontline durability so the fairies keep proccing.
B-Tier Options and Fun Builds to Try
Executioner Akali makes a quirky comeback with Nashor’s Tooth + Quicksilver + Nashor’s Tooth. She thrives in 3 Executioner / 3 Supreme Cell / 3 Mighty Mech shells with support from Ryze and K’Sante. Veteran Mentor Janna also pops off if you hit the Veteran power-up, enabling easy 4 Mentor with pieces like Kobuko, Udyr, Jarvan IV, Aatrox, and later Ryze.
Lower-tier but playable options include Fast 9 Varus, Battle Academia Yuumi, and Luchador Volibear—all reliant on high rolls or specific augments. Each can still land solid placements with the right setup.
