A strong Barcelona run would immediately change the narrative around their season.
An early exit would do the opposite.
Why they’re No. 5: Championship experience remains, but recent form makes them difficult to trust.
6. MIBR
MIBR are the most interesting outsider in the lower half.
They’ve climbed rapidly in the rankings and currently sit No. 18 in HLTV’s September 14 list, directly behind magic.
That still leaves a substantial gap to the tournament’s leading teams, but this isn’t a roster that should automatically be treated as free wins.
Their problem is the opening draw.
FURIA are one of the strongest teams in Barcelona and enter that matchup as the clear favorite.
If MIBR can survive the opening day, however, they have enough quality to become an awkward lower-bracket opponent.
Why they’re No. 6: Genuine upset potential, but a difficult path through the bracket.
7. magic
Under normal circumstances, magic might be several positions higher.
The team is ranked No. 17 by HLTV, and tenzy has been one of the most interesting players to watch outside the established top tier.
Unfortunately, the timing could hardly be worse.
AW is missing StarSeries because of visa problems, forcing coach eksiver to stand in for the entire tournament.
Losing a starting player immediately changes the expectations for a team trying to upset elite opposition.
And their first opponent?
Vitality.
Not ideal.
Why they’re No. 7: Plenty of talent, but the stand-in situation dramatically lowers their ceiling.
8. NRG
Someone has to be eighth.
NRG enter the tournament with the weakest overall profile of the eight teams and immediately face MOUZ in their opening series.
Dust2.us currently lists MOUZ at No. 3 in the world and NRG at No. 50 for the matchup.
That doesn’t mean an upset is impossible — Counter-Strike has repeatedly proved otherwise — but NRG have the hardest argument for a deep run on paper.
The double-elimination format at least gives them another opportunity if MOUZ prove too strong.
Why they’re No. 8: Difficult opener and a major ranking gap compared with the favorites.
StarSeries Fall 2026 Opening Matches
The tournament skips a traditional group stage and goes directly into an eight-team double-elimination bracket. Every match is best-of-three except the grand final, which is best-of-five.
| Opening Match | September 17 |
|---|---|
| MOUZ vs. NRG | 13:00 CEST |
| Vitality vs. magic | 15:30 CEST |
| NAVI vs. Aurora | 18:00 CEST |
| FURIA vs. MIBR | 20:30 CEST |
The grand final is scheduled for September 20, with NAVI attempting to defend last year’s title.
MOUZ Have the Opportunity — Vitality Have the Ceiling
The absence of Spirit and Falcons changes the entire shape of StarSeries Fall 2026.
There is no overwhelming favorite.
MOUZ enter Barcelona with the best combination of ranking, consistency and stability. Vitality have arguably the strongest individual ceiling. FURIA have enough firepower to punish either one.
And behind them, Aurora and NAVI are both capable of completely changing the bracket if they rediscover their best form.
For MOUZ, though, this feels like exactly the kind of tournament they should be winning.
The question is whether they can finally turn that expectation into another trophy.
