Lex the Legend is one of STALKER 2’s less trustworthy characters. Despite the impressive nickname, Lex has built a reputation for taking advantage of inexperienced stalkers, including selling questionable advice to anyone willing to hand over their Coupons.
Your first encounter with him takes place at the Flea Market in Garbage, but Lex won’t remain there forever. If you want to track him down after your initial meeting, you’ll need to help another stalker named Vova Amalgam and eventually travel to Zaton.
Where to Find Lex the Legend in STALKER 2
Lex can initially be found at the Flea Market, north of the Depot in the Garbage region.
The Flea Market is marked with a blue flag icon on your map. Once you arrive, head to the second level and look around the campfire.
You’ll find Lex surrounded by other stalkers while he tells stories about his supposed adventures.
This is only his first location, however. After you’ve encountered Lex and later return to the Flea Market, he and his group will be gone.
To find him again, you’ll need to follow a separate encounter involving Vova Amalgam.
How to Find Lex After the Flea Market
Lex eventually relocates to Zaton, but the game doesn’t simply give you a waypoint leading directly to his new position.
Instead, you can learn where he went by helping Vova Amalgam.
Vova can be found inside the Electric Field southeast of the Slag Heap. The anomaly field makes reaching and rescuing him dangerous, so carefully navigate through the electrical anomalies rather than rushing directly toward him.
Successfully guide Vova out of the Electric Field and speak with him afterward. During the conversation, he’ll provide information pointing you toward Lex’s new location in Zaton.
Lex the Legend’s Zaton Location
After speaking with Vova, travel to Zaton and make your way toward the Swamp Tram POI, located west of Lviv.
This is where you’ll encounter Lex and his gang again.
Don’t expect a friendly reunion. Confronting and threatening Lex causes him and his companions to become hostile, turning the encounter into a fight.
If you’ve already decided to kill Lex, you can prepare for combat before approaching the group. Since several enemies are gathered together, explosives can be particularly effective for starting the fight before they have an opportunity to spread out.
Once the group is defeated, search Lex and his companions for whatever equipment they’re carrying.
Should You Kill Lex the Legend?
There’s little practical reason to keep Lex alive once you’ve tracked him to Zaton if your goal is to resolve the encounter.
However, killing him isn’t a particularly lucrative revenge mission either.
Lex’s weapon can apparently vary between playthroughs, and neither he nor his companions are guaranteed to carry especially valuable equipment. You can loot the group after the battle, but don’t expect a unique high-end weapon simply for hunting him down.
The encounter is ultimately more about following through on Lex’s story and dealing with the scammer than securing a major gameplay reward.
How to Get the Rat King Artifact
Interestingly, Vova Amalgam can provide something more useful than Lex himself.
During the Electric Field encounter, Vova is associated with the Rat King artifact. Depending on how the encounter plays out, you can obtain the artifact from him or loot it from his body if he dies.
The Rat King provides:

The Electric Resistance is particularly fitting considering where you encounter Vova, while the Radiation Dispersion adds some additional utility when exploring hazardous areas of the Zone.
Lex the Legend Encounter Route
If you simply want to complete the entire Lex storyline without missing a step, the route is straightforward:
- Visit the Flea Market in Garbage and meet Lex near the second-floor campfire.
- Progress until Lex and his gang leave the Flea Market.
- Travel southeast of the Slag Heap and find Vova Amalgam in the Electric Field.
- Safely guide Vova through the anomalies.
- Speak with him to learn that Lex has gone to Zaton.
- Travel to the Swamp Tram POI west of Lviv.
- Find Lex and his group there.
- Confront or attack the gang and loot them afterward.
There isn’t a spectacular treasure waiting at the end of the hunt, but tracking down Lex does provide some closure after his earlier behavior. If you’re primarily interested in useful loot, pay particular attention to Vova and the Rat King artifact, as that can prove more valuable than anything Lex the Legend is carrying.
