Splitgate 2 received a major update on June 18, introducing fresh balance tweaks, bug fixes, and new content plans. The developers released full patch notes via Twitter. This update adjusted several weapons, improved Battle Royale performance, and set the stage for ranked gameplay and mastery rewards.
Assault Rifle and Weapon Changes
Assault rifles now feature reduced damage at longer distances. This change supports a clearer role for burst and semi-auto weapons. These rifles will now shine at medium and close range instead of dominating from afar. The Gravitar shotgun received a key change. Its primary fire now consumes two ammo instead of one. However, the gravity-pull secondary remains at one ammo, encouraging a mix of both functions.
For the Cadence Carbine, base damage dropped from 26 to 25. But its fire rate increased by 3%, and headshot damage slightly rose from 37 to 37.5. These tweaks make it faster and stronger with accurate shots. The Hyperline Carbine lost some power. Base damage dropped from 23 to 20, and headshot damage fell from 31 to 30. This weapon previously held a strong position in Battle Royale, which likely prompted this adjustment.
Sabrasque’s proximity mine no longer launches players off objectives. It now slows players instead of knocking them back, especially in Arena mode. This change helps preserve control-focused play without disruptive displacement.
Battle Royale Fixes and Improvements (Splitgate 2 Update)
Battle Royale load times dropped by 20 seconds. This reduces wait time between matches and removes the sluggish feeling that frustrated many players.
Random in-game events now trigger less frequently. The chance fell from 30% to 22.5% per round. This shift gives players more control and reduces unexpected interruptions that could swing outcomes unfairly.
Kill marks now appear for two seconds instead of three. A sound cue also plays when trying to loot without inventory space. These small changes improve clarity and ease of use.
The update also resolved several issues. Post-match buttons now appear correctly after eliminations. Legendary items play the correct sound when looted. Drop music no longer ends early. Players can now ping targets while using the split blimp.
Other key fixes include:
-
Enemies no longer appear on radar while switching biomes.
-
Portal visuals between biomes now display correctly.
-
Teammate indicators won’t fall through terrain during spawns.
Aim Assist and Performance Changes (Splitgate 2 Update)
Aim assist now turns off when the game detects mouse input. This stops players from combining controller benefits with mouse precision. The change ensures balanced play regardless of control method.
The update also targeted performance issues for players with large friend lists. Several visual glitches related to Nanoarmm and Nanotorm skins no longer occur. The Helios pistol now accepts its skin upgrades correctly.
Other cleanups include:
-
Custom matches no longer freeze advanced settings.
-
Disabled portals now show proper visual indicators.
Ranked Mode and Mastery Challenges Incoming
The 1047 team outlined their current priorities. They continue fixing bugs that block progression on daily and weekly challenges.
Ranked Arenas are now in development. These will bring competitive structure to the Arena mode. Meanwhile, mastery challenges are coming for classes and weapons. These challenges will unlock visual rewards, including camos, based on usage and skill.
The team also committed to improving Battle Royale performance and overall stability. This patch marked one of Splitgate 2’s most impactful updates. Weapon roles now feel clearer, Battle Royale gained smoother pacing, and visual polish continues to improve. Ranked and mastery systems promise more meaningful progression ahead.
