Splitgate 2: Release Date, Beta Pack, and Ranked Details

Splitgate 2 is officially launching on June 6 at 2 PM PT during Summer Game Fest. While many expected a later release, the announcement came with a cinematic trailer that sparked campaign speculation. Developers clarified this trailer originated from the game’s alpha stage and is not campaign-related—but they continue to tease a surprise feature reveal tied to launch day.

Many fans are theorizing about a battle royale mode or an extraction-style twist, but nothing has been confirmed. Either way, the launch is set to deliver major updates, including expanded game modes and new content drops.

Beta Survivor Pack and Cosmetic Rewards

Players who participated in the beta will receive a special “Beta Survivor Pack” at launch. The pack includes exclusive cosmetics, featuring a throwback to the classic “duck-style” armor skin, weapon charms like a toilet plunger, and other lighthearted items. This is the development team’s way of showing appreciation for those who tested the game through its early growing pains.

The team’s humor and transparency throughout the beta period have been well received by the player base. Despite challenges, they’ve maintained communication and continued refining the experience with a strong community-first mindset.

Feature Updates: Ranked, 120 Hz, Kill Cams, and More

Several key features were addressed during a recent developer Q&A stream:

  • Ranked Mode: Ranked 4v4 is in the works, expected within a month of launch. Casual players can still enjoy 8v8 matches, while the 4v4 mode will be the focus for competitive play.

  • 120 Hz on Console: High refresh rate support is coming soon, likely available at launch for consoles. Performance and smoothness remain a priority.

  • Kill Cams: Currently unavailable due to limitations with the game’s Unreal Engine 5 setup, but once the engine is updated to support it, kill cams will be implemented.

  • Wall Running: Not planned. Developers believe current movement systems like jetpack strafing and portal mechanics already offer strong mobility without needing wall run functionality. Also, implementing wall running would require extensive map redesign.

  • Stats Page: Stats are being tracked but are not yet visible. A future update will make player statistics accessible, though it’s unclear if current stats will carry over.

Factions, Balancing Plans, and Community Requests

Splitgate 2 currently features three factions: Meridian, Aeros, and Subrasque. The pick rate leaderboard currently shows Meridian on top, followed by Aeros, then Subrasque. However, Subrasque has seen a significant increase in pick rate since alpha, indicating growing interest from players.

Developers also confirmed faction balancing is on the way. While exact buffs or nerfs haven’t been revealed, adjustments are expected soon.

As for the addition of a fourth faction, the studio remains open to the idea but emphasized it’s not a priority. The concern lies in maintaining flexibility in team composition; a fourth faction could lead to players feeling pressured into one-of-each compositions in 4v4 matches.

Battle Pass Reset, Event Plans, and Splitgate 1 Concerns

One of the most debated decisions revolves around battle pass point resets. Developers clarified that points will reset with each new pass, a choice made to encourage ongoing engagement and content progression. Some players expressed frustration, but the team believes resets are necessary to keep the grind meaningful.

Meanwhile, frequent events are planned throughout the game’s lifecycle, adding further replay value beyond regular content drops.

Finally, the team addressed Splitgate 1 veterans. Unfortunately, there’s no reliable way to verify who played the original, so there won’t be specific rewards for longtime players. However, beta participants in Splitgate 2 still receive exclusive unlocks.

With fast-paced development, a highly engaged team, and a firm release date, Splitgate 2 is positioned to be a standout summer release. While a few features like kill cams and stat visibility are still pending, the foundation looks strong. With ranked gameplay, frequent events, and 120 Hz console support all planned, fans have a lot to look forward to when the game drops on June 6.
