Skate, 2XKO, Delta Force & More: Free Games Releasing in 2025

The free-to-play scene in 2025 has exploded, with major releases like Rainbow Six Siege going free, Splitgate 2 launching, and the debut of Frag Punk. Among the biggest titles coming this year is Skate, the long-awaited return of the skating franchise. It isn’t Skate 4, but simply Skate, and it’s coming to PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and mobile with full crossplay and cross-progression. Set in a massive city playground, players can master tricks using the Flick‑It system and challenge friends—or strangers—in a shared world. The game features cosmetic microtransactions, and emotes are expected to play a large part in its economy.

Fighting & Shooting for Free: 2XKO and Delta Force (Free-to-play 2025)

Riot Games brings 2XKO to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, introducing a tag-team fighter rooted in the League of Legends and Arcane universe. Players use light, medium, and heavy attacks to unleash fast-paced combos. Whether playing solo or co‑op, every character offers a unique range and fighting style, with the system designed to welcome beginners while rewarding mastery.

Then there’s Delta Force, launching August 19. It blends Battlefield’s destructible warfare with the tight shooting of Call of Duty. Its core multiplayer mode focuses on team-driven firefights with vehicles and explosive terrain, while its operations mode offers PvPvE extraction-based combat. A campaign retelling Black Hawk Down also awaits, all on PlayStation and Xbox—and all for free.

New Spins on Racing & Hero Shooters: RennSport and Fate Trigger

Sim racing fans can look forward to RennSport, a highly realistic online racer that rotates cars and tracks weekly. Permanent content is purchasable via microtransactions, but everything is accessible at least once for free. With 24-player races and esports ambitions, it’s aiming to outpace Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport. It launches later in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

If anime-style hero shooters are more your thing, Fate Trigger blends Fortnite-style battle royale with Overwatch-like hero abilities. With four roles—Assault, Support, Recon, and Defender—players can build unique squads for either full-size BR modes or quicker alternatives like Rapid Trials. A public beta is expected later in the year following a closed beta for PC.

Action RPGs & Open World Adventures: Neverness, Ballad of Antara, and Ananta (Free-to-play 2025)

From gacha-fueled action to Soulslike combat, Neverness to Everess introduces four-character squads with tag-team attacks, combining Genshin Impact and Withering Waves style gameplay. Meanwhile, Ballad of Antara is a three-player co‑op RPG featuring challenging melee combat and speculation around gacha monetization. Though planned for 2025, a delay into 2026 wouldn’t be surprising.

Ananta, formerly Project Mugan, channels anime GTA 6 energy with a dynamic open world in Nova City. The September Tokyo Game Show is expected to reveal a final release date. Players take the role of an elite supernatural agent, free to explore, fight, and live a second life filled with music, mini-games, and high-stakes combat.

Upcoming Free Releases: Arknights Enfield, Mecha Break, Path of Exile 2

Arknights: Enfield breaks away from its tower defense roots, offering open-world combat, puzzle zones, and interconnected factory systems. It’s expected to launch before August 30 for PS5, PC, and mobile. Mecha Break recently launched on Xbox and PC, with a PS5 version confirmed for later this year. The Gundam-style team shooter offers quick, explosive action perfect for casual or coordinated groups.

Finally, Path of Exile 2 remains in paid early access, with a full free-to-play launch tentatively set for December 6. However, given its expanding scope, fans may need to wait longer for the final release.
