First Blood
Requirement: Kill your first customer.
This is usually the easiest achievement to unlock.
Simply attack and kill any customer inside your store. The victim can be either:
- A regular customer
- A doppelganger
The achievement unlocks immediately after the kill.
Still Breathing
Requirement: Survive your first hunt.
Instead of dealing with a doppelganger immediately, allow it to finish its purchase and leave the shop.
Later in the shift, it will return as a hostile creature.
Survive the encounter to earn the achievement.
Freed
Requirement: Kill a Demented.
The Demented behaves differently from most enemies.
While you’re looking directly at it, it remains completely stationary and cannot be damaged.
To defeat it:
- Place a Bear Trap.
- Look away.
- Allow the Demented to move.
- Lure it into the trap.
Once it’s killed, the achievement unlocks.
Silenced
Requirement: Kill a Shrieking Doll.
Shrieking Dolls occasionally appear during monster attacks.
As soon as one spawns:
- Equip your firearm.
- Shoot the doll before it disappears or overwhelms you.
Destroying a single Shrieking Doll is enough to earn the achievement.
Last Performance
Requirement: Kill a Marionette.
This achievement cannot be earned until Shift 9.
To summon the Marionette:
- Find the Jack-in-the-Box.
- Let it complete its music three times.
- Defeat the Marionette after it appears.
Successfully killing it unlocks Last Performance.
Relentless
Requirement: Complete a hunt within 30 seconds.
Preparation is the key to this achievement.
Before allowing a doppelganger to leave:
- Reload your weapons.
- Place traps where appropriate.
- Stay near likely entry points.
Once the hunt begins, eliminate the monster as quickly as possible.
Defeating it within 30 seconds awards the achievement.
Locked and Loaded
Requirement: Buy every weapon.
To complete your arsenal, purchase every weapon that becomes available throughout the game.
This includes:
- Melee weapons
- Firearms
- Any additional unlockable weapons
Once every weapon has been purchased, the achievement unlocks automatically.
True Ending
Requirement: Save both your pet and Clyde.
This is the game’s best ending.
To unlock it:
- Earn enough money to pay for your pet’s surgery yourself.
- Finish the game with at least $250 available.
- Do not ask Clyde for financial help.
Both characters survive, rewarding you with the True Ending achievement.
Grave Decision
Requirement: Choose your pet over Clyde.
If you don’t have enough money by the end of Shift 12, you’ll be given the option to contact Clyde.
To earn this ending:
- Finish without the required surgery funds.
- Call Clyde for help.
- Allow him to pay for the procedure.
Your pet survives, but Clyde later dies, unlocking Grave Decision.
Empty Home
Requirement: Choose Clyde over your pet.
Like the previous ending, you’ll need to finish the game without enough money for the surgery.
This time:
- Refuse to ask Clyde for help.
Clyde survives, but your pet cannot receive treatment, resulting in the Empty Home ending.
Tips for 100% Completion
Most achievements can be earned during a single playthrough, but the three ending achievements require different final choices.
For the fastest route to 100% completion:
- Unlock all combat-related achievements before the final shifts.
- Purchase every weapon as soon as you can afford it.
- Create a save before the ending decision if possible.
- Replay the final section to view each ending without replaying the entire game.
With careful planning, you can unlock every achievement in Shift at Midnight while minimizing the number of full playthroughs needed.
